50 Cent has given Ray Vaughn his stamp of approval after the TDE rapper flipped one of 50’s classics for his latest release.
On Friday (July 26), Ray dropped his new single “Supposed To Die,” which samples 50’s similarly-named “I’m Supposed To Die Tonight” from his 2005 album, The Massacre.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, 50 shared Ray’s video for the song and wrote, “I approve” with a 100 emoji.
A grateful Ray responded in the comments, saying, “But literally one of my favorite rappers this means a lot fr [fingers crossed emoji]”
In other news, 50 Cent and Keith Sweat have gotten into a public disagreement over a complicated web of upcoming events, and the question of who’s showing up to each of them.
For a solid month, Keith has been listed as one of the celebrities who will be attending 50’s Humor & Harmony Weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 8-11. Specifically, he’s billed as one of the performers at the 50 Cent & Friends Concert on August 10 at the city’s Municipal Auditorium.
It began with a post from 50, where he is riding in a car, talking on the phone to someone about how Sweat is “tripping” because he offered to appear at 50’s event via Zoom instead of in person. 50 says that Sweat’s reason is that 50 won’t attend a big event for the “Make It Last Forever” singer several days before: he will be awarded the Entertainer’s Key to New York City on August 3.
“This [ninja] @keithsweat is tripping,” 50 captioned his post.
He taunted Sweat by saying that the singer was “getting Diddy’s Key to the city” at the ceremony — Diddy was stripped of his Key to the City following the release of video of him assaulting Cassie.
“Now if he don’t show up in Shreveport, we ain’t fucking with him no more,” Fif continued.
weat hit back by playing a snippet of 50’s notorious 1999 song “How to Rob,” where he lyrically joked about robbing the singer (along with a who’s who of rap and R&B stars of the time).
“I just remember you said this about me back in the day. I’ll see y’all in NYC Aug 3rd when I get to the key to the city. You need to be there with me and everything is squashed.”
Minutes later, the G-Unit general responded to Sweat.
“oh no, I was tripping when I wrote that, yo ass better be in Shreveport [ninja],” he wrote. “we need that grown and sexy shit ! @keithsweat stop playing get your ass on da jet man.”
