Prince Harry has not spoken to his father since he gave a tell-all interview in which he claimed King Charles was refusing to speak to him because of his security concerns.
Prince Harry hasn’t seen his father in a long time
The tensions between Prince Harry and King Charles appear to be worse than ever.
The cracks in Harry’s relationship with Charles have become increasingly apparent since the Sussexes’ decision to step away from royal duties and their subsequent criticism of the monarchy in interviews, their Netflix series and Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare. A significant sign of this rift was evident in February 2024.
After the announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis, Harry made a solo trip from California to London, leaving his wife and children at their Montecito home. Despite the long journey, Harry’s meeting with Charles was reportedly brief, lasting only 12 minutes, according to royal author Lady Colin Campbell.

She stated, “My understanding is actually the meeting lasted exactly 12 minutes, not 30 minutes or 45 minutes and Harry took it upon himself, without an invitation, to get on a plane, fly over and inform the King’s office that he was arriving.”
She questioned the purpose of the visit during her conversation with GB News, asking, “One could actually wonder who was the visit for? Was it for Harry? Was it for the king? Or was it for Netflix or was it a combination of all three?”
She added, “I don’t think anybody is particularly convinced that Harry has done this for any other reason but to work himself into the narrative and keep himself at the forefront of the public’s attention.” Prince William has not met with his brother during any of his visits, indicating a deep-seated rift.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! that it’s unlikely we’ll see the brothers reconcile anytime soon. “I think we have to give up hope that the rift between the brothers will be healed at any time in the near future, or indeed ever,” Bond said last year. “William’s head and heart must be bursting with all that he has on his plate right now.”
She added, “Dealing with ‘the Harry problem’ is probably just one step too far for William. I believe he has moved on with his life and has, to all intents and purposes, disowned the brother to whom he was once so close.”
During his most recent interview, Harry spoke with BBC News after his legal challenge over security concerns was dismissed, following his step back as a working member of the royal family in 2020. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry expressed.
