Eminem made a surprise appearance at the Michigan Grand Central Station reopening concert in his hometown of Detroit on Thursday. Performing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the hip-hop legend offered the live premiere of his latest single and welcomed Trick Trick and Jelly Roll during the four-song set.
Eminem’s surprise set headlined the event. The rapper kicked off the performance with the live debut of his new single, “Houdini.” Em dropped the track and its accompanying video on May 30. At the time of writing, the video is No. 1 on YouTube’s trending music and has amassed over 50 million views. Guess who’s back.
Following “Houdini,” Eminem welcomed Jelly Roll on “Sing For The Moment” off Em’s 2002 album, The Eminem Show. The song samples Aerosmith’s “Dream On” with Jelly Roll handling the Steven Tyler vocal at Michigan Central.
Next, Trick Trick made a guest appearance for his 2005 collaborative single with Eminem, the fitting “Welcome 2 Detroit.” It marked the first time Eminem performed the song since 2010, as per SetlistFM stats. Eminem wrapped the performance with “Not Afraid” off his 2010 album Recovery.
