“Is everyone expected to apologize for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?”: Ryan Reynolds Goes Guns Blazing into Recent Jamie Lee Curtis-MCU Controversy That Even Got Kevin Feige Involved

Jamie Lee Curtis’s apology to Marvel has left Ryan Reynolds wondering if his raunchy Deadpool & Wolverine jabs also warrant an apology.

Marvel’s had its fair share of critics over the years, with heavyweights like Martin Scorsese throwing shade and Jamie Lee Curtis hopping in and out of the critique club. Recently, Curtis issued a heartfelt apology for her Marvel comments, but Ryan Reynolds saw it as the perfect opportunity to stir the pot a bit.

With Reynolds notorious for his cheeky jabs at Marvel in Deadpool & Wolverine, he decided to humor the internet a bit. After all, if anyone’s going to capitalize on a little Marvel controversy, it’s the guy who’s made a career out of wicked humor and breaking the fourth wall. And fans are absolutely lapping it up!

Jamie Lee Curtis Apologizes to Marvel and Kevin Feige for Calling It “Bad”!

Marvel’s recent slump hasn’t gone unnoticed by Hollywood’s A-listers, and especially the post-Endgame era which is now often described as a “bit of a low point” for the saga. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, Jamie Lee Curtis and her Borderlands co-stars were put to the test with some Marvel trivia. When asked which phase the MCU is currently in, Curtis, known for her bluntness, boldly declared it was “bad” in an MTV interview.

It turns out that the phrasing of the question, or perhaps the MCU’s complex timeline, left many celebrities scratching their heads. While only a few managed to nail the answer as Phase 5, other stars, like Rings of Power actress Ema Horvath, suggested the MCU was in a “transitional phase,” which to be honest is a good answer.

The mix-up made for a hilarious segment, but now it seems Curtis is backpedaling and trying to smooth over her Marvel critiques. As the actress recently took to X to issue an apology, promising to be more thoughtful with her words about the MCU in the future.

This isn’t Jamie Lee Curtis’ first foray into throwing shade at Marvel. Things got especially fiery when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All at Once hit the scene, prompting Curtis to drop a flurry of pun-filled posts on X comparing the two. But now it seems she’s looking to take a step back, probably mulling things over with none other than Kevin Feige himself.

Ryan Reynolds Wonders If His Deadpool & Wolverine MCU Jabs Need an Apology Too!

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds has turned the whole situation into comedic gold. After having roasted Disney, Marvel, and 20th Century Fox, in this latest Deadpool movie Reynolds always has a field day, poking fun at every corner of the Marvel Universe. He’s worried fans might soon be demanding an apology from him, especially after his relentless ribbing of the post-Endgame era. He wrote on X,

Some of the standout MCU jabs in the movie include Deadpool welcoming Wolverine to the saga and joking that he’s joining at a bit of a low point. He also humorously refers to himself as the “Messiah” tasked with saving the Marvel Universe, among many many many other sharp quips that are too many to count on fingers.

To be honest, Deadpool, besides being Marvel’s Jesus, also served as a defibrillator for the universe.

He’s exactly what the franchise needed to get out of the slump or curse or whatever term is being used. His fourth-wall-breaks and razor-sharp wit provide the perfect shock therapy for a franchise that’s started to feel a bit… stale. By injecting a healthy dose of meta-humor, Deadpool is the only one who can not only tickle everybody’s funny bones, but also serve as a much-needed reality check for Marvel.

Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in theaters.
