Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Virgin River season 6.

The climax of Virgin River season six left viewers on the edge, gasping as the final moments unfolded with an unforeseen revelation.

With hearts swelling from Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) exchanging vows in a heartfelt matrimonial ceremony, the joy is short-lived when they discover that Jack’s former flame, Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), has vanished without a trace.

The fresh chapters of Netflix’s adored drama chronicle Charmaine’s struggle as she contends with the unwanted attention of the town’s notorious lawbreaker Calvin (David Cubbit) after discovering he’s the father of her newborn twins, inciting his desire for involvement in their lives.

As the closing scenes of the latest installment unfurl, Jack, troubled by Charmaine’s absence from their happy day and her conspicuous silence, makes his way to her home. What greets him is disarray; the residence is tossed upside down, reports the Daily Record.

And then, amidst a haunting melody of a lullaby, he encounters something behind a door that leaves him visibly staggered before the screen fades to nothingness.

What did Jack stumble upon?

Theories explode among devoted viewers, some instantly suspecting foul play with Charmaine wounded, or worse, lifeless, and Calvin absconding with the infants.

But what if the season seven premiere flips the script? Enthusiasts on Reddit are buzzing, speculating on startling possibilities.

“I’m thinking Charmaine is dead and babies are with Calvin. They were definitely foreshadowing it,” one speculator revealed, yet second thoughts swiftly set in.

“Unless Charmaine staged the house to make it seem like something happened and ran away with the babies,” they theorized. “Somewhere where Calvin can’t find them.”

Another viewer speculated: “No one is in the bedroom. To get away from Calvin, Charmaine took the babies to Oregon where her aunt lives and previously offered for her to bring the twins and live with her.”

Some fans envisioned a darker turn of events. “Charmaine and Calvin had a fight, he died, she took kids and run away… and Jack found his body,” read one theory.

“I was thinking Charmaine standing over Calvin’s body holding a gun? Or just the body and an empty apartment,” pondered another.

And another fan conjectured: “I think he saw a body. And I think it will be Calvin, I think Charmaine will go to prison and she asks Mel and Jack to take care of the twins.

“(I think they will end up with three kids, including the baby from the surrogate mother).”

Right before Jack stumbled upon the shocking scene, Virgin River was rocked by another revelation when Marley (Rachel Drance) informed Mel that the couple set to adopt her unborn child backed out, proposing instead that Mel and Jack raise the baby.

Should Charmaine indeed be guilty of killing Calvin and fleeing with the twins, she might face imprisonment, thrusting Mel and Jack into a tough spot regarding their relationship’s future.

Until season seven drops, don’t hold your breath for any answers from Henderson – the showrunner just spilled that even he was left in the dark about what his character was gazing at.

Patrick Sean Smith spilled to TVLine: “Martin did not actually know what he was seeing.

“It’s a testament to his acting talent that he was able, in a single look, to create several possible outcomes of what he was seeing. At one point, I was like, ‘Guys, what if we come back in this moment and it’s just like a Peloton? Maybe Jack didn’t know she had a Peloton!’

“But yeah, Charmaine has found herself in the middle of a mess again, which is where her character tends to reside.”

Virgin River season 6 is available to stream on Netflix.
