Taylor Swift actually had us hooked on rumors of her defeating Thanos years ago!

Taylor Swift and Thanos

Taylor Swift has long been one of the most favorite personalities in the music industry, and rumors have been going around that she will soon become ginormously favorite in the entertainment industry too. And while some may argue these rumors and speculation started with Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Deadpool 3, we tend to differ, because, truth is, these actually started nearly 7 years ago.

Although it may seem surprising for those who forgot or didn’t know, these initially originated back in 2017 with a track from Swift that had fans convinced the billionaire singer was going to defeat Thanos. However, that never came to be, and those rumors drowned, but even then, that ain’t the end of the speculation around Swift joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Taylor Swift Had Fans Believing She Would Defeat Thanos in 2017

Back in 2017, Taylor Swift was all set to launch to even more extraordinary heights of fame with the release of her album Reputation. But what she wasn’t ready for was becoming the talk of the town because of rumors surrounding her single End Game.

This single was with Ed Sheeran and Future and became an instant hit effortlessly.

But, soon enough, rumors started floating around regarding the Blank Space singer’s involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how she was supposedly about to defeat Thanos just because the title of her song matched with the film’s title, i.e. Avengers: Endgame.

As Swift herself confessed during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: There were some fans that thought I had something to do with ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Which I would have loved to if been asked, but I wasn’t asked to be in it at all.

Continuing, she explained just why this comparison came along, saying: Because we had the single coming out the same day and I have a song that was called ‘End Game’, so they were like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s going to defeat Thanos!’ And I let everyone down. Again.

While that in itself is indeed a clue to make the Marvel fandom believe in something like this, what further fueled these rumors is the fact that Swift actually has a habit of leaving Easter eggs in her songs, so fans supposed this would hold an Easter egg about the Marvel film as well.

However, unfortunately, all those rumors and speculation turned out to be false as the Wildest Dreams singer shared how she wasn’t even asked about it. But that isn’t the end, because the speculation chain has once again started about Swift joining the MCU.

Those Rumors About Taylor Swift Joining the MCU Haven’t Stopped Yet

As fans already know, a lot of rumors had been going around about how Swift was going to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and would make her debut with Deadpool & Wolverine after a presumed Easter egg that had fans believing about her secret casting.

However, her reported casting as Dazzler, the X-Men mutant she uncannily immaculately resembles, didn’t really get any official greenlight for Ryan Reynolds‘ upcoming movie.

But while that’s that, a recent report from industry insider Daniel Richtman has fans once again as excited as ever. According to what he shared on his Patreon, the Bejeweled singer reportedly met up with Marvel boss Kevin Feige for a potential role in the MCU (via @PopBase on X).

Needless to say, this news has fans as exhilarated about it as ever, with their reactions on X being:

Well, this incredible hype has made it evident that Taylor Swift will be all set to win hearts if she makes her debut with the MCU as well. But, considering how these are only reports that are yet to be officially confirmed, we might as well take it with a pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine hits the theatres on the 26th of July, 2024.
