A recent poll saw Virgin River fans declare the show’s ‘most attractive and least boring couple’.
A recent fan poll for the popular Netflix series Virgin River has revealed a surprising favourite couple among viewers. The show primarily follows the story of nurse practitioner Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge), who relocates to a picturesque Northern Californian village after experiencing a heartbreaking tragedy.
Once there, she falls for local bar owner and ex-Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and becomes acquainted with the quirky yet warm-hearted locals. These include Jack’s best mate Preacher (Colin Lawrence) and Mel’s new boss Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (Tim Matheson), who is married to the town’s mayor, Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole).
Other strong couples in the show include Preacher’s budding romance with firefighter Kaia Bryant (Kandyse McClure) and young lovers Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Doc’s grandson Denny (Kai Bradbury), who are expecting a child.
Chaotic couple Brie and Brady came out on top
However, the most complicated relationship between Jack’s sister Brie (Zibby Allen) and former bad boy Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) topped the recent poll.
Despite causing major drama last season by sleeping together while in new relationships, several Reddit fans voted them as Virgin River’s top couple with an impressive 144 votes out of 272. Mel and Jack came second with 60 votes, less than half of the total, while Doc and Hope secured third place with just 41 votes.
Mel and Jack’s wedding may have taken centre stage in season six, but it’s Brie and Brady’s fiery relationship that has audiences truly captivated. One fan captured the sentiment: “I felt like that was the only correct answer”, reports the Mirror US.
“They’re the most attractive couple, the least boring, and they have the most chemistry.
“In every other couple on the list it constantly feels like one party is parenting the other lol.”
This prompted agreement from another fan who noted: “People like chemistry, why Brie and Brady are the overwhelming majority win on here as well as IG and FB. Mel and Jack are nice but bland.”
Mike stunned fans by popping the question in the season finale
While other viewers offered different favourite pairings, with one chiming in: “Actually… none of these, my favorite couple is Cameron (Mark Ghanimé) and Muriel (Teryl Rothery).
“But if I need to choose between your choices I would say Doc/Hope or Brie/Mike (Marco Grazzini).”
Season six started strongly for Brie with her new beau Mike following their heartwarming beginning in Virgin River’s Christmas specials.
Yet, Mike’s impetuous move to propose at Mel and Jack’s wedding—despite knowing about Brie’s passionate affair with Brady—potentially sets their relationship on a rocky path. Questions remain whether Brie and Mike can defy expectations to secure a happy future together, or will Brie’s true feelings lead her back into Brady’s arms?
