Ryan-Reynolds-Reveals-Deadpool-&-Wolverine-Approached-Oscar-Winning-Horror-Director-For-An-MCU-Cameo

Deadpool & Wolverine was very close to recruiting a major Oscar-winning director for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. One of the most highly anticipated movies in The Multiverse Saga is on the verge of finally arriving, as Deadpool & Wolverine will bring Ryan Reynolds into the MCU on a full-time basis. Deadpool & Wolverine may be the only MCU film to come from Marvel Studios in 2024, but it is already projected to be one of the most crucial installments for the franchise.

In a new interview with Screen Rant for the upcoming release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were asked if there were any MCU characters they would love to work with in Avengers: Secret Wars if they end up being part of it. While revealing how much he wants to work with him, Reynolds opened up on how they had offered a role to actor and director Jordan Peele in Deadpool & Wolverine, though couldn’t make it work due to his busy schedule. See what Reynolds shared below:

Ryan Reynolds: I have one – he couldn’t do it, one of the first people that were offered a role we were trying to work with desperately was Jordan Peele. But we are such enormous fans of his, everything he does, I think he’s just one of the great underrated performers as well. Obviously, he’s busy building a gigantic empire as a director and creator, but he’s somebody that I still, to this day, would love to find some way to team up with. I don’t even care what he would play, but I would love to work with him

Could Jordan Peele Join The MCU In The Future?

With Peele’s career continuing to grow as both an actor and filmmaker, him not being in Deadpool & Wolverine doesn’t mean he couldn’t join the MCU in the future. As there are constantly more MCU movies and TV shows being worked on, there is room for Peele to show up in the MCU in Phase 6 or beyond. This is also a way to perhaps find a bigger character for Peele to portray, especially if the MCU wants to use him more than once.

In June 2024, it was reported that Peele and Marvel Studios had supposedly met about him helming a movie for them. If this is true, at least Marvel Studios is still trying to find ways to work with Peele after not being able to work something out for Deadpool & Wolverine. Even if Peele doesn’t play someone in front of the camera, having him behind it would still be a major benefit for the MCU.

The bigger question is who Peele would have played if he had actually joined Deadpool & Wolverine. Unless Reynolds ever expands upon it, the world may never know who Peele could have portrayed in the MCU threequel, though with its multiverse-hopping story, it could have ranged from unseen Marvel characters, or even a Deadpool variant. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of surprises to look forward to in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on July 26.
