Netflix’s Stranger Things is undoubtedly a pop-culture phenomenon and one of the most popular series that the streaming service has released. Ever. With a dash of 80s nostalgia combined with a great cast and superb writing, mixing fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and drama, Stranger Things is a series that will definitely go down in history due to the cultural impact it had. As the sad fans know, nine years after the premiere, the series will officially end next year with its fifth and final season, bringing the story that the Duffer Brothers conceived to an end. Filming of Season 5 is heavily underway, and while we have received some official filming photos, some leaks have also appeared online.

The most recent batch of leaks is related to Vecna, the series’ main villain, who is played by Jamie Campbell Bower, and part of whose origins were revealed in Season 4. As Hawkins will have to face the full power of Vecna’s might, it seems that the character will once again undergo a surprising transformation!

The leaks we have for you are from the filming of Season 5, and they reveal Campbell Bower in costume, playing Vecna. While this wouldn’t be a surprise in most cases, we know that Vecna’s true form – currently – is that of the Upside Down monstrosity, so these photos have us quite confused:

At this point in time, we don’t actually know what these photos mean. Is it a flashback scene? Is it a hallucination? Or is it Vecna’s old/new form? Many theories have appeared online, with some fans suggesting that Vecna has once again returned to his regular human form, which means that he will face Eleven and the gang in this form as well, which would be quite interesting, although a bit surprising, knowing the state of things we were left with in Season 4.

On the other hand, theories that this is a flashback scene or a hallucination created by Vecna (or Eleven) also make sense. This could be Vecna from when he still had his human form, or it could be a form that Vecna wishes he could have if the hallucination theory is correct. Be that as it may, out of context, these photos don’t mean much in terms of explaining the plot of Season 5.
