Quinn Ewers’ NFL Future Just Took a MASSIVE Turn—Steve Sarkisian Finally Spills the Truth! The Texas coach didn’t hold back, revealing the one thing that could make or break Ewers at the next level!

After three seasons at Texas, the time for Quinn Ewers to leave has come. Ewers is now set to begin his professional career after playing under head coach Steve Sarkisian. Gaining some NFL Draft steam is the goal over the next few weeks and Sarkisian decided to help out on Thursday.

When making an appearance on The Herd, Sarkisian was asked what makes Ewers NFL-ready today. He highlighted how Texas is similar to a professional team in Austin as nobody else is in the city. A lot of pressure comes with playing quarterback at Texas and Ewers is more than used to blocking it all out.

Quinn Ewers

“One, playing in our market,” Sarkisian said. “I think we’ve got 1.5 million people in the city of Austin with no pro sports. No NFL, no NBA, no Major League Baseball. The microscope you’re under, the scrutiny, the media coverage, the national media coverage, the brand, the having to have to be at your best under that.

“I think sets you up and gets you ready for the NFL where you’re not so consumed of what other people think but rather, ‘I need to focus, I need to prepare, I need to take care of my body, I need to take care of my body, I need to be in the gameplan.’ I think those things are really helpful to go along with all the physical attributes. There’s not a throw that guy can’t make.”

There is certainly more Ewers needs to work on moving forward. Not many people have him projected to be selected in the first round, even second. Despite of three years of work under Sarkisian, there are questions surrounding the former No. 1 overall player according to the 2021 On3 Industry Ranking.

Availability is one and something Sarkisian spoke on as well. Ewers missed games in all three of his years as a starter due to different injuries. Recent reports even state he played through one during the 2024 season.

Sarkisian knows in order to have a lasting NFL career, taking care of your body to avoid injuries is as important as anything.

“I think about the Tom Bradys of the world, the Aaron Rodgers, these guys that played for so long in the NFL,” Sarkisian said. “Why did they play so long? They don’t get hurt, right? They know where their issues are and they take care of their body off the field but they take care of their body on the field…

“I think his ability to maintain his body because it’s not going to be about him knowing what to do or the physical ability to do it. I think it’s ultimately, it’s going to be putting himself into the best physical position to perform week in and week out.”

Quinn Ewers has been turning heads with his recent performances, solidifying his status as one of the top quarterback prospects in college football. Leading the Texas Longhorns, Ewers has showcased his elite arm strength, accuracy, and poise under pressure, proving he can deliver in high-stakes moments. His ability to read defenses and make quick decisions has helped Texas remain a serious contender in their conference, and his chemistry with receivers has only improved as the season progresses.

In recent games, Ewers has demonstrated his deep-ball accuracy and playmaking ability, orchestrating key drives that have kept Texas competitive against tough opponents. Despite dealing with some injuries earlier in the season, he has bounced back with impressive performances, displaying resilience and leadership. His efficiency in the pocket, combined with his mobility when needed, makes him a dangerous dual-threat quarterback.

Scouts and analysts have taken notice of his composure in clutch situations, particularly his ability to stay calm and deliver precise throws under pressure. As Texas pushes toward the postseason, Ewers’ recent performances suggest he’s peaking at the right time, making him a highly intriguing prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft. If he continues at this level, he could be a first-round pick and a future franchise quarterback at the professional level.
