Boston’s Secret Weapon? Celtics Eyeing Former Warriors PG in Stunning Deal! This Move Could Change the Entire Playoff Picture!

The Boston Celtics don’t have to add another valuable asset to their roster to repeat as NBA champions.

However, it would be wise to consider acquiring a former Golden State Warriors point guard with meaningful playoff experience on the buyout market.

Flipping Dennis Schroder Would Be Wise For Warriors - Last Word On Basketball

“A little fun fact here – Chris Paul is a career Western Conference player,” Air Alamo’s Will Eudy wrote last Friday.

“He has played for seven of the NBA’s 15 Western Conference teams in his career, never once suiting up for an Eastern Conference team.”

“Somehow, that seems fitting. But if Paul does decide to change that, the Boston Celtics would undoubtedly welcome his services as they seek to go back-to-back this spring. If CP3’s goal is to win a championship this season, this may be his best option.”

Paul is undoubtedly a shell of his former self. Paul, who spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Warriors, is a few steps slower than he was in his prime, which was bound to happen eventually.

Still, the 12-time All-Star’s impeccable IQ has allowed him to execute the pick-and-roll to perfection in Year 20, forcing critics to respect his production as an aging lead guard.

Paul averages 9.0 points and 8.0 assists per contest, shooting 40.6% from the field and 35.4% from downtown with the San Antonio Spurs this season.

Regarding Paul’s postseason track record, the Wake Forest product has a reputation for failing to prevail on the big stage.

From being a part of a Los Angeles Clippers squad that surrendered a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals to coming up short against the Milwaukee Bucks as a member of the Phoenix Suns, Paul has struggled to get over the hump in the playoffs.

That said, Paul could strike gold with the Celtics as an experienced veteran who wouldn’t be asked to be the star of the show under Joe Mazzulla.

If the Spurs buy Paul out this season, Boston could benefit from adding the 39-year-old future Hall-of-Famer before the postseason begins.
