A Season of New Records! A New Record Set in the Latest NBA Games. History Calls Russell Westbrook’s Name

Sunday’s matchup between the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets was highly-anticipated by fans as they are the two most recent NBA Champions. In their first matchup, the Celtics won in Denver 118-106, though the Nuggets were without Nikola Jokic.

The Celtics and Nuggets also both rank near the top of their respective conferences and are legitimate title contenders once again. In addition to Sunday’s game being a battle of two of the NBA’s best, it is also a potential NBA Finals preview.

While most eyes are on players like Jokic, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Jamal Murray, it was Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook that made NBA history in the game.

After recording his fifth assist of the game, Westbrook became the ninth player in NBA history to record 9,800 career assists, according to StatMuse. He now joins the likes of some of the NBA’s all-time greatest players like LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and Steve Nash.

While he is not the same player he was when he took home the NBA MVP award in 2017, Westbrook is still a valuable player and is proving as much in his first season in Denver.

Through 53 games this season, the UCLA alum is averaging 12.7 points, 5 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals.

As the Nuggets look to get back to the NBA Finals after their second-round exit last year, they will rely heavily on Westbrook as their sixth man. With just a couple of months remaining in the regular season, Westbrook is continuing his strong campaign.

Russell Westbrook has long been known for his explosive athleticism, relentless energy, and ability to fill up the stat sheet in ways few players can. Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered high-level performances, earning multiple All-Star selections and an MVP award. His ability to drive to the basket, push the pace, and create opportunities for his teammates makes him one of the most dynamic guards in NBA history. Whether he’s dishing out assists, grabbing rebounds, or scoring in clutch moments, Westbrook’s presence on the court is always felt.

In his latest game against the Boston Celtics, Westbrook once again made history, adding another milestone to his already legendary career. His ability to impact all aspects of the game was on full display as he racked up impressive numbers in points, assists, and rebounds. Whether it was his trademark fast breaks or his fearless drives to the rim, he proved why he remains one of the league’s most electrifying players. Fans and analysts alike were left in awe of his relentless performance, further solidifying his place in NBA history.

Beyond his individual achievements, Westbrook’s leadership and intensity continue to inspire his teammates. His competitive fire is unmatched, pushing those around him to play at a higher level. Even as his role has evolved over the years, he remains a key contributor, bringing experience, hustle, and playmaking ability to his team. His passion for the game and refusal to back down from challenges make him a player that every team values, regardless of the stage of his career.

As Westbrook continues to defy expectations, the debate over his legacy only grows stronger. While some critics focus on his turnovers or shooting efficiency, there’s no denying the impact he has had on the game. His record-breaking performances serve as proof that he is one of the most unique talents the league has ever seen. With more milestones still within reach, fans can expect Westbrook to keep making headlines and leaving his mark on basketball history.
