There’s One QB In The 2025 Draft Who’s “The Closest Thing To Patrick Mahomes Since Patrick Mahomes,” According To NFL Analyst

An ESPN NFL analyst has fans buzzing after comparing one of the top 2025 draft prospects to Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.

As hard as it is to believe, Mahomes wasn’t exactly highly-touted like Caleb Williams, Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence when the Chiefs traded up via the Buffalo Bills to select the Texas Tech quarterback 10th overall.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up” program, analyst Kevin Clark made an awfully bold claim about Miami signal-caller Cam Ward, the odds-on favorite to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans in the 2025 draft.

“(Cam Ward) is the closest thing to Patrick Mahomes since Patrick Mahomes,” Clark said.

After transferring from Washington State, Cam Ward has a phenomenal 2024 season at Miami. He completed 67.2 percent of pass attempts for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and only seven interceptions to go along with 204 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Unlike Burrow, Williams and Lawrence (who certainly hasn’t lived up to the “generational” label up to this point), Ward isn’t quite considered a sure thing to succeed. But the Titans desperately need a quarterback, as do the Cleveland Browns (No. 2 pick) and New York Giants (No. 3).

As such, it’d be a surprise if Ward wasn’t a top-three pick. But considering he hasn’t taken an NFL snap yet, it’s obviously way too early to compare Ward to the best player in the game right now.

At 29 years of age, Mahomes is already a three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time league MVP. For what it’s worth, Tom Brady had three championship rings and zero league MVPs by his 29th birthday.

Mahomes still has a long way to go in catching Brady’s four rings and statistical records. But if he keeps up his current pace, it may not be long until we revisit the NFL “GOAT” debate.
