Meghan Markle has achieved another career milestone as she’s been announced as a keynote speaker at the TIME100 Summit in New York, which takes place later this month

Meghan Markle will soon be following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian as she’s been announced as a keynote speaker at the TIME100 Summit.

The Duchess of Sussex will appear as part of the “world’s most influential people” at the fifth annual event, which takes place in New York City later this month. Meghan’s appearance comes after Kim appeared at the event in 2023 and discussed her criminal justice reform work.

Meghan will join other notable speakers including actor Ryan Reynolds. Her husband Prince Harry has not been announced as participating in the event and it’s unclear if he will travel to New York with his wife.

The TIME100 Summit website stated, “The fifth-annual TIME100 Summit will feature leaders from the global TIME community to spotlight solutions and encourage action toward a better world. Speakers for the day-long event include: Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and founder of As Ever, actor and producer.”

The Time100 Summit is a day-long event. Other speakers will include Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and co-CEO of Netflix Ted Sarandos.

The summit will be followed by a special gala event on April 24, which will later air on ABC on May 4. It’s currently unknown if Meghan will attend the gala, which will be hosted by Snoop Dogg.

The announcement of Meghan as a keynote speaker comes after TIME Magazine also revealed its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Demi Moore, Ed Sheeran, Snoop Dogg, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis and Serena Williams feature on the worldwide covers of the magazine.

Meghan is close friends with Serena, with the two women having first met at a Super Bowl party in 2010. However, their close friendship didn’t blossom until 2014.

In a post on her former blog The Tig, Meghan opened up about their bond. “We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff,” she penned.

Meghan added, “We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations – our endless ambition.”
