All the insane Black Mirror easter eggs Charlie Brooker hid through season seven episodes
One easter egg being an actual chocolate easter egg called White Bear is sending me
It truly wouldn’t be a great season of Black Mirror if you didn’t spend the entirety of your time binging it pointing rabidly at the screen like that viral Leonardo Di Caprio meme. Why? Because you know full well that Charlie Brooker and anyone else behind the show at Netflix fills Black Mirror with amazingly smart easter eggs that harken back to episodes in the show’s history – and season seven is no different. In fact, there’s better ones than ever – expertly hid and I bet you missed most of them.
Across all six episodes in season seven of Black Mirror, here’s all the genius easter eggs that Charlie Brooker scattered and buried away in his Netflix masterpiece.
Episode one: Common People

There are so many easter eggs in the pilot of the season. Charlie Brooker explained that Juniper Lodge, where Amanda and Mike stay for their anniversary, is purposely named after the iconic San Junipero episode. The song Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) by Irma Thomas plays during the anniversary meal, too – and this song has been a recurring motif throughout the show’s history. It first appeared way back in season one’s Fifteen Million Merits and has recently appeared in Joan Is Awful too.
Another season one callback comes from one of the users when Chris is using the harrowing Dum Dummies has the username I_Am_Waldo – referencing the polarising The Waldo Moment episode.
It’s not just the past lurking in the Common People easter eggs, though – because future Black Mirror season seven ones are littered in too. One of Amanda’s adverts is for Ditta, the company who make the chocolate in episode two. Hotel Reverie, the original film, is on in the cinema Amanda and Chris walk past as well!
Episode two: Bête Noire

“There’s a literal Easter egg in the lobby – a ‘White Bear’ Easter egg – but whether you actually see it, I’m not sure,” Charlie Brooker said. I can’t believe I missed this. I love white chocolate!
Another mad easter egg is the entire Barnie’s / Bernie’s chicken saga calls back to Shut Up and Dance – where Kenny worked at a Barnie’s. The brand of the milk that causes such chaos in the whole episode is called Raiman which is the name of the main character in season three’s Men Against Fire.
Finally, the Ditta chocolate HQ where the office saga is set is opposite Tuckersoft – the video game developers in Plaything and in Bandersnatch.
Episode three: Hotel Reverie

A really good easter egg in Hotel Reverie is when Brandy, played by Issa Rae, is researching the Dorothy character from the original film on YouTube she sees some thumbnails for Demon 79. But better still, she then watches some videos by Pia and Davis from Loch Henry.
“We also have a Space Fleet shirt in the control room,” Brooker said – where one of the characters is wearing a t-shirt themed after the show that Robert Daly is obsessed with in USS Callister. The remade Hotel Reverie also goes on Strawberry – seen in Joan Is Awful from last season.
Episode four: Plaything

Plaything features two returning characters from Bandersnatch – Will Poulter’s Colin Ritman and Asim Chauhdry as Mo Thakur. Not really as much of an easter egg because it’s pretty obvious. But what was less obvious is there were hidden video game posters from Striking Vipers in the offices, as well as another pop up of Waldo – who Ritman was a fan of.
Episode five: Eulogy
No easter eggs for Black Mirror season seven ep five, guys. Just cry over how great Paul Giamatti was instead.
Episode six: USS Callister: Into Infinity

via Netflix
This entire episode is a bit of an easter egg considering it’s all about the season four one, but Charlie Brooker says “there’s a human Easter egg – a character from Demon 79 pops up in the space battle.” Another good one is Pixie, the character they meet in the game, is streaming a song by Miley Cyrus’ Ashley O.
But the easter eggs come thick and fast in the final moments if you look at the news ticker, with the headlines announcing that Hotel Reverie is on Streamberry, Thronglets 2 has launched to critical acclaim – which is the game from Plaything. And best of all, news we’re all celebrating: The CTO of Rivermind has stepped down. Aka, the horrid company from Common People.
