Peter, 37, echoes his wife’s sentiments, and also reveals to PEOPLE that Bridget was “the person who came closest to guessing when George would arrive.” He adds that George’s excited big sister “was also the first person to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him in the hospital.”
Peter also notes that George was born on his and Vaughn’s four-year wedding anniversary. “Thank you, son, for being the reason I’ll never forget to pick up a card for Hillary, when I’m picking out a birthday card for you,” he confesses.

After 30 hours of labor, baby George arrived safe and sound. “I’m just glad Peter handled our taxes early this year!” she quipped.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Vaughn expressed her joy about becoming a boy mom. “I’m so excited to add ‘boy mom’ to my resume. But let me tell you, there’s definitely a learning curve—never, ever let your guard down during diaper changes, or you’ll get ‘baptized!’”
George’s arrival was made even more special by the reaction of his older sister, Bridget, who just turned two. Vaughn shared how heartwarming it was to see their daughter embrace her new sibling.
“It’s been such a blessing to welcome our son into this world, and it’s just as special to watch Bridget welcome her baby brother George,” she said. “Growing our family means giving our kids a lifelong best friend. With a new heartbeat in our home, our hearts are more full than ever.”
Peter, 37, echoed his wife’s sentiments and shared a fun tidbit: Bridget was the closest in guessing George’s actual birthday. Not only that—she was the very first to sing “Happy Birthday” to him while still in the hospital.
Adding to the serendipity, baby George was born on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary.
“Thanks, son, for giving me a foolproof way to remember to buy Hillary an anniversary card—I’ll be grabbing your birthday card at the same time,” Peter joked.
Peter’s father, Steve Doocy, longtime Fox & Friends co-host, also weighed in on the joyful moment, reminiscing about the family’s anticipation before the birth.
“Right before George was born, we were all on baby watch,” he recalled. He shared a funny moment when he saw Peter reporting live from the White House lawn and suddenly got hit in the head by a dive-bombing bird.
“I woke up my wife Kathy and told her about it. She paused for a moment and said, ‘Was it a stork?’” Steve laughed, clarifying, “It was not a stork. That night Peter went home, shampooed out the bird, and sometime after the cream rinse, Hillary went into labor.”
As a doting grandfather, Steve is already imagining the fun ahead. He confessed that his Instagram feed has turned into a steady stream of videos featuring sweet grandparent moments, slow-motion hugs, and sentimental music.
“But beyond all the cute videos, what really gets me is the unconditional love between grandparents and their grandkids,” he said. “What the kids don’t know is, as a grandparent, it’s my job to spoil them rotten for the rest of their lives.”
He added playfully, “I can already picture the conversation: ‘George, when your parents get home tonight, there’s really no reason they need to know we had pie and ice cream for breakfast… again.’”
