Jon Hamm wants to be in the MCU and fans already believe he will be perfect for two supervillains.
Jon Hamm became a household name with his breakout role as Don Draper in Mad Men. He got to flex his dramatic acting chops with the role and has won several accolades for playing the role. His scene-stealing supporting roles in The Town, Bridesmaids, Baby Driver, and Top Gun: Maverick proved that he always has a charismatic presence in every project.
The actor has not participated in any superhero projects in either Marvel or DC and turned down playing Green Lantern years ago. But he recently opened up about pitching himself for a couple of parts in the MCU and fans already think he is perfect for two of Marvel’s greatest villains.
Jon Hamm Wants To Be In The MCU And Fans Want Him to Play Mr. Sinister/ Dr. Doom
Jon Hamm has been in the industry for quite some time now and has dabbled in various genres in his career. However, he has yet to make his debut in a big-budget superhero film in the MCU or DCU. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor stated that he is in constant conversations with the heads at Marvel and DC for potential roles.
Although he passed on the role of Green Lantern back in the day, he is still hoping for a great role, especially in the Marvel universe. Hamm has even pitched himself for a couple of roles in the MCU. The Mad Men star said,
Yeah. And it’s not like they were saying, ‘We want you to be Iron Man.’ But there were a lot of conversations, and I’m still in those. I talk to the guys that run Marvel and DC. And I’m a comic book nerd. So, we’ll see. Even that part of the industry is changing. That was one I definitely didn’t want to do. But I’ve pitched myself for a couple parts of the Marvel universe.
While fans want him as Mr. Sinister or Dr. Doom, Hamm is a versatile actor and would do a great job with any role he’s given. It remains to be seen whether Kevin Feige and his team hire Hamm for a significant role in the franchise.
Jon Hamm Was Wildly Underpaid For The First Few Seasons of Mad Men
Jon Hamm starred as Don Draper in 7 seasons of AMC’s period drama Mad Men from 2007 to 2015. The series has been considered one of the best to come out in the 2000s and people have loved Hamm’s intense performance as the character. However, it seems the actor was seriously underpaid despite being the lead of the show.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm recollected how he had to ‘wrestle’ to get the pay he deserved and even threatened the makers that he would quit. He was underpaid for the first four seasons and eventually, this threat led to changes in his pay grade. Hamm said,
There was definitely a moment on Mad Men where I was wildly underpaid, and that was corrected. And you go, ‘OK, good.’ But it came with a fair amount of wrestling. I was like, ‘Guys, here’s the deal, I will walk away from this. You need to know that.’ Absolutely. It was after season four, which was really difficult for me.
The role remains his most popular and one that brought him various accolades, including an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards. Hamm returned as Don Draper recently in Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted. The actor also starred in Mean Girls this year and will be voicing Sentinel Prime in the upcoming Transformers One, which hit theatres on September 20, 2024.
