“Very confident that we’ll never hear this term mentioned again”: Ryan Reynolds Can Call Himself Marvel Jesus but Kevin Feige Cannot Use Confusing Anchor Beings That Will Doom the MCU

The new concept introduced by Deadpool & Wolverine has no precedent in the comics.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded way beyond simply assembling the Avengers to fight an alien invasion. As the franchise grew, so did its scope, causing the Avengers to deal with alternate timelines and time travel, possibly culminating in a fight with a multiversal villain, along with alternate versions of them selves.

However, with the advent of Deadpool & Wolverine, it feels as though the franchise has stretched itself a little too much, especially with the introduction of ‘anchor beings’. Wholly distinct from Nexus Beings as far as fans and audiences are concerned, audiences are convinced that there is no way in hell Kevin Feige will keep this term in the franchise.

Fans wonder why there was a need to introduce ‘Anchor Beings’ in the MCU

Fans are wondering how the MCU is going to function with so many moving parts, given that it might have introduced too many concepts for even hardcore fans to keep track of. Given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to cater to the mainstream audience to make its money, Kevin Feige will likely streamline some of the concepts and the concept of anchor beings might be on the chopping block.

While Anchor Beings were important for the film, it seems unlikely that this concept will set well with the rest of the MCU. There were a slew of rumors before Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theatres that there would be some sort of ‘chosen one’ concept in the film and that Spider-Man would be the ‘chosen one ‘ of the MCU.

There is a difference between Nexus Beings and Anchor Beings, despite what Kevin Feige says.

Nexus Beings as a concept exists in Marvel Comics and often serves as important characters in timeline and time travel-related stories. As defined in Marvel Comics, these beings have the capability of altering possibilities and probabilities, changing the flow of time laid out before them. Characters like Franklin Richards, Wanda Maximoff, and even Doctor Strange have served as the Nexus Beings in various universes.

Anchor Beings, on the other hand, is a completely new invention introduced by Deadpool & Wolverine. These beings are “crucial for holding their realities together” which might be more confusing than it seems. Given that a timeline’s integrity depends on the death or removal of these beings, these characters need to be kept alive by whatever means possible.

While Kevin Feige has suggested that these could be different terms for the same concept, Anchor Beings may serve as a counterpoint to Nexus Beings in their respective universe. While the Nexus Being can change the course of time, it needs to make sure that Anchor Beings are not affected by these changes.
