Princess Diana’s Final Moments, Heartbreaking Truths to be Revealed in New Docuseries ‘Who Killed Diana?’

A three-part docuseries documenting Princess Diana‘s final moments is in the works. Who Killed Diana? is produced by the same company Depp vs. Heard and The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe. The upcoming documentary promises to reveal new information about Diana’s death.

New details will be revealed in the docuseries ‘Who Killed Diana?’

Per Deadline, Who Killed Diana? will “explore the circumstances surrounding the death of the Princess of Wales on August 31, 1997. It will feature rare and, in some cases, the first-ever interviews with several key sources connected to the accident that caused Diana’s death.”

Deadline claims the three-part docuseries will “cast new light on the case that has captured the world’s attention for decades.” However, the synopsis did not delve further into the new information the series will present to viewers.

Deadline reports that Who Killed Diana is one part of a franchise between EverWonder and Empress. This series will delve deeply into the death of iconic figures.

Jon Adler, head of talent and content development at EverWonder, shared a statement to Deadline. “This new franchise will not merely revisit the deaths of famous figures. It will actively drive the story forward with new voices and fresh insight into compelling and complex details.”

‘Who Killed Diana?’ promises a fresh perspective leading up to the princess’s death

Emma Cooper, head of Empress Films, told Deadline, “Exploring legendary women through investigative journalistic documentaries is a passion of mine. Just as with The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe, we’ve taken a story the world thought it knew and uncovered hidden truths. I am committed to approaching this beloved and iconic woman’s story with fresh perspectives, new voices, and previously untold information.”

There have been dozens of investigative reports into the hours leading up to the death of Princess Diana.

Diana and Dodi al Fayed had dinner at the Ritz around 10 p.m. on Aug. 30, 1997. Their dinner came after a day of being trailed by paparazzi, leading the couple to decide to remain at the hotel for their meal. The couple planned to eat at Paris bistro Chez Benoit, but the onslaught of paparazzi made that impossible.

Then, the couple tried to eat in the hotel’s dining room. But onlookers made the princess nervous, so they retired to the Imperial suite to eat their meal.

Shortly after midnight, they entered a car with driver Henri Paul and a bodyguard, Trevor Reese-Jones, to head back to Al-Fayed’s apartment. Neither Diana nor Fayed wore seat belts; only the bodyguard, Rees-Jones, wore one.

Paparazzi trailed the Mercedes the foursome were in, following them into the Pont de l’Alma tunnel. Paul drove fast to evade the paparazzi, eventually striking the 13th concrete pillar. Paul and al Fayed died immediately. Diana was alive but died at a nearby hospital. Rees-Jones was the only survivor.

There was an unprecedented amount of grief surrounding Princess Diana’s death. Her young age and the tragic way she died added another layer of hurt to those who loved the princess.

Then anger shifted toward the press, which relentlessly pursued Diana and Dodi al Fayed that evening. There was also another layer of anger toward the royal family, who many royal watchers felt didn’t protect the princess once she divorced then-Prince Charles. Finally, there was furor toward Queen Elizabeth, who decided to keep Prince Harry and Prince William at Balmoral in Scotland for almost a week before returning to Buckingham Palace to face the British public.

An estimated one million people gathered in the London streets for the funeral. It was said that 2.5 billion people worldwide watched the ceremony live on television.

No release date has been shared yet for the docuseries Who Killed Diana?
