According to Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry’s autobiography, the Suits actress had a heated exchange with Kate Middleton over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. The Prince claimed that his wife was left “sobbing” after her feud with Middleton, ahead of her royal wedding in 2018.

However, one thing that made headlines following Prince Harry’s tell-all autobiography Spare, and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey was the rift between Kate Middleton and the Suits actress. According to the Duke of Sussex, his wife had a heated exchange with Middleton over bridesmaid dresses for Princess Charlotte, ahead of their wedding in 2018.
“Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home.” Prince Harry noted the message shared by Middleton, via Mirror UK.

Exposing the bitter row in his mémoire Spare, Prince Harry claimed that after receiving the message, Meghan Markle asked the Duchess of Cambridge to see the tailor, who had been waiting for them since the morning at Kensington Palace. However, Kate Middleton apparently refused the offer to go and demanded all the dresses should be remade.

According to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle had decided to go with a particular sort of bridesmaid dress during her wedding. But as Princess Charlotte’s dress didn’t fit her, Kate Middleton demanded to remake all the dresses. This led Markle to ask the Duchess of Cambridge to take her daughter and get her dress altered.
“I’m not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn’t fit then please take Charlotte to see Ajay (the tailor). He’s been waiting all day.” Markle noted.

But according to Prince Harry, Kate Middleton repeatedly refused to do so, which led Markle to burst into tears as she had a heated argument with the Dutchess, ahead of her wedding. Thus, eventually, Markle offered to take Charlotte to have the gown altered, but fortunately, Middleton reluctantly agreed to follow the actress’ idea and take her daughter herself.

Later, during her infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey via SkillShare, Meghan Markle opened up about this particular encounter ahead of her wedding, which strained her relationship with Kate Middleton, alongside other issues. Markle noted that this incident made her cry and “really hurt my feelings”.
During interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle noted how Middleton apologized for her behavior
“A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings… And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it.”
Admitting how the heated encounter brought her to tears, Meghan Markle noted that Kate Middleton eventually realized her mistake and tried to fix things. According to Markle, the Duchess of Cambridge took accountability for her blunt comments that hurt the actress by sending an apology note and some flowers.
