Meghan Markle is reportedly extremely anxious about seeing the Royal Family in person more than two years after last coming face to face with Princess Catherine, Prince William and King Charles.

Meghan Markle is reportedly anxious about seeing the Royal Family in person again, including her estranged sister-in-law Princess Catherine.

The Duchess of Sussex last travelled to the United Kingdom and saw her in-laws when she visited London for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Awkwardly, Meghan was forced to come face to face with the Princess of Wales after publicly claiming Kate “made her cry” before her wedding day during the Sussexes’ Oprah interview.

While Harry has subsequently made multiple trips to his homeland, Markle has noticeably avoided returning to the United Kingdom and prefers to stay in her native California with their children Archie and Lilibet.

The rift between the Sussexes and the monarchy arguably hit a low point following the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare in January 2023, which included a list of embarrassing claims about senior royals including the Prince and Princess of Wales.

As a result, Harry and Meghan were reportedly left out of the loop regarding Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnosis and were only notified shortly before Kate made her diagnosis public over concerns the Sussexes could leak the news.

According to a Sussex source who spoke to Closer magazine, Meghan is “incredibly nervous” about coming face to face with the Royal Family again amid speculation Harry’s rift with his family is thawing.

“The wounds Meghan suffered from her experiences in the Royal Family cut very deep,” the source said.

“Since all the drama over her and Harry’s split from The Firm, she’s been incredibly nervous about facing them again.

“But she now accepts it’s got to be done.”

Reportedly, Meghan’s simmering anger towards the monarchy prompted the Duchess to decline an invite to her own father-in-law’s coronation last year.

But in a small sign that the Sussexes could be spending more time in Europe, the couple have reportedly recently bought a second home in Portugal near Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie.

William also fondly mentioned his estranged brother during the Prince of Wales’ new documentary on homelessness, with royal insiders interpreting the move as a possible olive branch.

According to the Closer source, the Duchess of Sussex is concerned about feeling “tossed aside” if Harry reconciles with King Charles and Prince William.

“Meghan’s stance is that if Harry is going to go back and make a deal with the royals, she needs to be part of it as well,” the source said.

“She wants to show them they can’t just trample all over her and then have Harry come back on his own, as though she can be tossed aside.”
