“We’ve Got New Elves and New Epic Battles”: Rings Of Power Season 3’s New “Elf A-Team” & Big Action Sequences Teased By Galadriel Actor

Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) smliing in The Rings of Power

New elf characters are teased for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) spent the majority of season 1 with Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), who was later revealed to be Sauron, and among the Númenóreans, instead of being among her fellow elves. That will change in The Rings of Power season 2’s story now that Galadriel has returned to Middle-earth, knows the truth about Sauron, and has reunited with the elves, while most of the Númenóreans have returned to Númenor at this stage of The Lord of the Rings prequel series.

While speaking with Screen RantClark and Sam Hazeldine, who has been recast as Adar for season 2, discuss how there will be more elves playing a central role in season 2, and how Galadriel will spend more time this season with others like her. Galadriel and Adar were enemies in season 1, but their dynamic will change in season 2 now that they have a common enemy in the resurgent Sauron. Clark emphasizes the importance of these changes behind-the-scenes and in the context of the story. Check out Clark and Hazeldine’s comments below:

Clark : Yeah, there’s lots of action, and there’s a little elf super group, which I was really excited about. So we’ve got new elves, and we’re seeing them. It’s always really exciting when a new elf came on, it was like, “What’s their special way of doing things?” So I’m really looking forward to everyone seeing.

Hazeldine : Like an elf A-Team.

Clark : [Laughs] Yeah, meeting these new characters, because they were all amazing. And it was nice to see Galadriel back amongst the elves.

Rings Of Power Season 2 Will Be More Interconnected

The Elves Will Be More Prominent In Season 2

For much of season 1, many of the storylines felt completely separate from one another, with many prominent characters not crossing paths until The Rings of Power season 1 ending, or in some cases, never crossing paths at all. Even though season 2 will still be balancing many characters and storylines, it will feel more interconnected as much of the season 1 setup is paid off, and the characters’ fates become more intertwined with each other. This will be especially satisfying for Galadriel after spending most of season 1 cut off from the other elves.

Season 1 established Galadriel’s longtime friendship with Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and how King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) and other elves were frustrated by her, but did not have the opportunity or time to explore much of her dynamics with other elves. It will be a refreshing change of pace to see Galadriel interacting and building relationships with familiar and new elves in season 2, providing more insight into how she is perceived by her kin at this point in The Lord of the Rings timeline. This change also means that more elves will be shown in action in season 2.

Galadriel, the corrupted elf Adar, and Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) were the only elves seen fighting on the battlefield during season 1. Season 2 will see Elrond in armor and on the battlefield, among many other elves in action now that Sauron has returned, the Southlands have been transformed into Mordor, and orcs spread across Middle-earth. These changes will expand the scope of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 and make the story feel more interconnected than season 1.
