At the end of Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus’ Daryl is headed toward what appears to be the safest region.
Did the Season 2 finale of Daryl Dixon just suggest a safe haven for the humans from the walkers? Norman Reedus’ The Walking Dead spin-off has seen some exciting development over its last six episodes. Reedus’ Daryl learns from the Scottish couple Angus and Fiona that the United Kingdom has effectively controlled the zombie outbreak.

While the question remains whether Fiona’s account is true or not, the UK being a walker-free zone is big news for the world in The Walking Dead. It means that there is at least one country, with the means and resources, that could find a cure for this outbreak.

Norman Reedus‘ spin-off series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is performing well at AMC and has been renewed for a third season. The second season finale aired a few days back, where Daryl and Carol escape from France and head to England. According to Fiona, who was killed by Daryl in self-defense in the final scenes, the United Kingdom hasn’t been affected much by the zombie apocalypse.
Daryl and Carol were left stranded in France without a plane or ship to take them back to the US when they met the Scottish couple, Fiona and Angus. They revealed to Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol that the UK dealt with the zombie outbreak in an effective way. Fiona further explained that the army had locked things down quickly when they had left the island.
Daryl and Carol decide to head towards the Channel tunnel connecting England and France alongside the Scottish couple. However, things take a turn for the worse when they all hallucinate under the psychoactive effects of bat guano. Daryl is forced to kill Angus and Fiona in the end before he and Carol put on gas masks and leave France.
They are headed to the UK, which will show the viewers whether Fiona’s claims hold any merit. However, the new season is set to take place in Spain, hinting at a possible change of plans (via THR). This season of Daryl Dixon also showed fans that even the less-populated Greenland was not safe from the outbreak, as the region only had two survivors.
Why Is The UK Potentially Safe And Why Is It Good News?

It is to be assumed that things might’ve drastically changed since Fiona was last in the UK. However, the possibility of the UK being the safest country in The Walking Dead universe is not further from the truth. The country’s small population and isolated location, being an island, are an advantage in the face of a zombie apocalypse.
It is possible that these demographic and geographic factors helped the army to quickly shut down the island, largely saving it from the zombies. Moreover, the country must have had strong resources to battle and take control of the situation. It is the one factor that Greenland potentially lacked and made it an easier target.
The UK being safe from the zombies is a positive thing for The Walking Dead universe. The human and medical resources available in the UK could be used for finding a cure for the outbreak. It is a potential storyline that could be explored further down the lane for the franchise.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is now available for streaming on AMC+.
