The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is tearing up the streaming charts, and Andrew Lincoln fans couldn’t be happier. The spinoff, starring Lincoln and Danai Gurira, debuted on Netflix, quickly ranking at #8 on the Global Top 10 Shows list for the week of January 13-22. With 2.3M views and 11.7M hours clocked, this one-season wonder proves the undead still have a hold on audiences.

Picking up after the Walking Dead finale, the series reunites Rick and Michonne Grimes in a thrilling six-episode arc. Fans were ecstatic to see Rick alive after his dramatic exit in Season 9. His wife, Michonne, embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue him from the CRM, delivering a love story that’s survived both the apocalypse and five years of separation.

The show also brought in a stellar supporting cast, including Pollyanna McIntosh, Terry O’Quinn, and Breeda Wool, creating the perfect ensemble for the Walking Dead universe. Critics praised its tight storytelling, and fans embraced the emotional depth of Rick and Michonne’s journey.

For Andrew Lincoln fans, this triumph reignites hope for Rick Grimes’ future. While there’s no confirmation of a Season 2, the show’s streaming performance might just convince producers to keep the saga alive. After all, Rick and Michonne’s story has proven it’s far from over.

Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was unfinished business. After leaving the main series in Season 9, Lincoln stepped away to focus on family. Fans were left with a promise of Rick’s return, initially planned as a film trilogy, which later evolved into this six-episode spinoff.

Lincoln revealed that his comeback was driven by Rick and Michonne’s untold story. He shared,

Because people would stop me in the street and go, ‘Where’s Rick?’ There was an unfinished story. And I was talked into it by Danai [Gurira, who plays Grimes’s love interest, Michonne] and Scott [M Gimple, one of the series showrunners].

But I didn’t want it to feel like a spin-off. I wanted to complete a story that we left unfinished. It was about reuniting two lovers and seeing if their love could survive time and distance apart.

The spinoff delivered an emotional journey, reuniting Rick and Michonne while exploring the enigmatic CRM. Though some felt the ending was rushed, it left the door open for more tales, and fans are ready.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is available to watch on Netflix & Apple TV.
