Stranger Things, the widely anticipated science fiction horror series, is preparing for its fifth and final season. While viewers are anxious to see what the Netflix show’s last chapter will bring, expectations have been high following the previous season, which kept fans on the edge of their seats. The next installment is expected to be even bigger and have multiple plot twists. Among other things, the makers are expected to bring dead, or at least assumed dead, characters back to life. Yes, you read that right.
In a recent interview, Stranger Things star Matthew Modine suggested that his character Dr. Martin Brenner may not be dead, as it appeared in the finale episode of Season 4.
In an interview with Vulture, Matthew Modine asked if he would consider his character dead as it seemed in the previous season. The actor reacted, saying, “I wouldn’t want him to be dead. Three things are curious to me: How did he [Brenner] survive the Demogorgon? How did he survive One? And when Eleven tries to use her power against Dr. Brenner after blowing three guards in the air, he unflinchingly thwarts her and says, ‘You didn’t think it was going to be that easy, did you?’ She couldn’t get it to work on him. Is there something more to Brenner than meets the eye?”
Furthermore, when asked if Martin Brenner possesses some supernatural abilities to come alive again, Matthew elaborated, “Yeah. I don’t want to believe it’s over, because I love the Duffers. I don’t want to believe it’s over, because I can’t wait to work with Millie again. I say Millie, because I don’t really have anything to do with the other cast members — except for Paul Reiser.”
Picking up after the events of the previous season, the new Stranger Things season is slated to chronicle the Hawkins gang’s ultimate adventure as they band together to solve the town’s biggest mystery, i.e. defeat Vecna once and for all. The cast includes, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, David Harbour and Winona Ryder. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is expected to release in 2025
