The One Show legend blamed her husband for sharing the real reason why she didn’t buy Mary Berry’s house

The One Show legend revealed that she previously viewed the former Great British Bake Off judge’s home, but one specific aspect meant that she and her husband didn’t end up buying it

Alex Jones has shared the real reason why she didn’t buy Mary Berry’s house, and it seems that it’s all due to her “BFG” husband.

The One Show presenter, 47, revealed that she previously viewed the legendary food writer and former Bake Off star’s home, and shared some insights into what it was like inside.

Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast, Alex admitted that it was a “lovely” home, but she and her husband, Charlie Thomson, ultimately decided not to buy it for a specific reason.

She told podcast host Kate Thornton that the house had “quite different styles”, but one section proved to be incompatible with her husband, whom she liked to a Roald Dahl character.

Alex said: “We didn’t buy it, right? But, I’ll tell you, it’s a lovely house but it’s like two houses that are quite different styles that have been knocked into one.

“And in one part, it was quite cottage-y – really nice but Charlie is like nearly six foot three and no; he looked like…” to which Kate suggested that it was the “land of the giants”.

Alex continued: “Well, he looked like, yeah, BFG in like a Polly Pocket house. No, not a mix, so we couldn’t do that.”

Insurance broker Charlie and TV host Alex, who have three children and got married in 2015, recently moved homes after 11 years and welcomed a new addition to the family, a Labrador puppy.

On Instagram, she said: “So, I have a bit of news. On Monday night – and it’s taken me a few days to process it – I came home and Charlie was standing in the middle of the drive with what I thought was a jumper.

“And then, this black jumper moved. I got out of the car and said, ‘Whose dog is that?’ and he said, ‘It’s ours.’ We have a new arrival – come here Scout! We have a new little baby. He’s 10 and a half weeks old – he’s gorgeous.”

The BBC host previously revealed that she had been experiencing difficulties juggling being a mum and working, leaving her feeling like she “runs herself ragged.”

Speaking to Fabric Magazine, she admitted that she felt “super guilty” for leaving them but she loves the job and it “keeps the family afloat”. She went on to say that she’s “with them right up until the last minute” prior to jumping in the car and heading to work.

She added: “And then I rush home to try and do their last story before they go to sleep. I haven’t got the solution – I just basically try and do it all.”
