A source has dismissed reports about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle purchasing a new villa in Portugal.

It had been reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to purchase the property after being guests of Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank. However, a source has insisted no such deal has been made.

The source also suggested any would-be neighbors would likely be angry at the Sussexes’ presence due to the unwanted fanfare. The source said: “Everything is kept very tight here, but even so, we would have been made aware of the Sussexes if the story was accurate.”

Speaking to The Times, the source continued: “Tom Holland, the actor, has a house here, and there are some Gulf Arab sheikhs. I don’t think they would like the Sussexes as neighbors – it would cause too much publicity.”

Rumors of Meghan and Harry’s move to Portugal came after the Duke of Sussex himself hinted at it in his memoir, Spare. Royal expert Angela Levin suggested the Sussexes may be seeking closeness to the royal who Meghan considers her “sister”.

Speaking to GB News, Levin stated: “Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank [are] there and in Harry’s book, Spare, he said Meghan and Eugenie are like sisters.” However, she voiced some skepticism, remarking: “I’m not quite sure of that because in August [Princess Eugenie] said she wants to come back to the UK because she wants to give the children an English education and she wants to be with the family.

“Is that a way they [the Sussexes] can go around various countries in Europe and pretend that they’re still royals again? I don’t think there’s anything positive about that.”

Levin noted that Portugal offers “sea and sand”, but emphasized that Meghan already has that “on her doorstep” in California, where she lives with Harry and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Last year, it was rumored that Harry and Meghan, who have a close bond with Eugenie and Jack, jetted off to Portugal for a romantic getaway after the Invictus Games, allegedly traveling from Dusseldorf to Lisbon, then to Melides. At that time, rumors were swirling that Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank were playing host to the Sussexes.
