Erin Foster may not have married a rabbi, but much of her new Netflix series Nobody Wants This is based on her relationship with husband Simon Tikhman.
Prior to her Netflix rom-com series, Erin Foster was best known as the cofounder of Favorite Daughter, a clothing brand she runs with her sister, Sara Foster. Those names sounding familiar yet? Well, they’re both daughters of record producer David Foster (a.k.a., the guy married to Katharine McPhee).
But forget about her famous family for a moment. Considering you’re probably about to fall in love with Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) by watching Nobody Wants This (which dropped on September 26), we thought we’d catch you up to speed on the relationship that inspired Foster to bring them to life.
According to The New York Times, Foster converted to Judaism for Tikhman, the cofounder of entertainment and talent management company The Core Entertainment. “It all worked out,” she said. “I love being Jewish.”
Here’s everything we know about Erin Foster and Simon Tikhman’s relationship, with the most recent updates up top.
June 6, 2024: Tikhman joins the Foster sisters on their podcast to discuss their new baby, Noa.
May 17, 2024: Foster and Tikhman welcome their first baby, whom Foster jokes is the “first person I’ve met who prefers me to Simon.” Sharing a series of black-and-white photos taken during labor, Foster revealed the couple are parents to a new baby girl named Noa Mimi Tikhman.
“Truly the most insane experience of my life, with the best ending,” Foster wrote in the Instagram caption on May 19. Foster says her daughter arrived two weeks early, proving she’s “nothing like her mother who is always late.”
She continued, “Being totally unbiased I would say she’s perfect and super advanced already, and might be the first person I’ve met who prefers me to Simon. Gave birth to her au naturale in our bed like a beast, but also would have taken heroine in the moment if someone offered. Simon would like everyone to know he’s a warrior too ❤️”
May 15, 2024: Foster describes Nobody Wants This as a “Rom-Com born out of me falling for a nice Jewish boy and never looking back. ❤️”
November 23, 2023: Foster announces her pregnancy on Instagram with a family photo, writing, “It feels like we need something positive right now, so I’d like to offer something. I’m pregnant!”
February 14, 2021: In a Valentine’s Day tribute, Foster says she knew Tikhman was “her person” when she had a meltdown “a week into dating.”
August 20, 2019: Just one year after their relationship was confirmed, Sara Foster announces her sister’s engagement. She writes, “Ladies, i guess the moral of the story is stay crazy because apparently it gets you a ring.”
After her sister’s post, Erin shares her own Instagram photo, writing, “How on earth did I pull this off?”
August 19, 2018: Their relationship is confirmed by Us Weekly. “It has been around six months and they are very serious,” one source said. Another insider added, “Erin and Simon met through mutual friends in L.A. Things are going well. Simon is a really good guy and treats Erin wonderfully.”
June 11, 2018: Tikhman asks Foster to be his girlfriend. She revealed the story in the caption of an anniversary post in 2021. She wrote, “3 years with this bad boy who didn’t remember today is the anniversary of him asking me to be his girl. 3 years ago today Simon skipped his weekly basketball game to pick me up from the airport. A shocking move, I was so nervous and embarrassed wheeling my little bag out to him, stopping in the bathroom to put makeup on. And it all worked out! Happy fake anniversary you forgot about @simontik I’m obsessed with you.”
