Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, which was due to be released today but has been postponed due to the LA fires, has been branded a “flop-in-waiting”.
Meghan Markle’s upcoming lifestyle show on Netflix has been dubbed a “flop-in-waiting” by a Royal commentator.
The Duchess of Sussex was set to release her new show today, but it has been delayed until March 4 due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Meghan debuted the trailer for her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, on Instagram on January 2.
However, Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan criticized the Duchess’s timing and predicted that Americans would not be interested in her latest Netflix venture. She penned: “If timing is everything, Meghan Markle has nothing. Her little cooking/entertaining/gardening vanity project for Netflix, set to premiere on January 15, has been postponed to March.”
She further described the move as “vintage Meghan: Verbose, vague, meaningless, and thoroughly unnecessary.”
Callahan continued her scathing review by questioning “who cares what Meghan Markle is doing or not doing,” labeling her new show as “already tone-deaf” even before the fires, reports The Express.
The columnist, known for not holding back on their opinions about the Sussexes, slammed Meghan by comparing her to “Marie Antionette in a rented mansion with her ladybug cupcakes and long hair hanging over these ostensible edibles.”
She continued with skepticism regarding the delay of Meghan’s project: “As for who made the call to postpone this turkey? Forgive me if I’m doubtful that Meghan did so unilaterally. More likely to my mind is that Netflix, knowing how damaging the optics would be, pressed pause on this flop-in-waiting.”
Not mincing words, she said, “But it doesn’t really matter, because I for one am not buying the premise that Meghan much cares about anyone other than herself.”
She concluded scathingly: “And the only thing likely to be cooked in that kitchen is Meghan’s reputation, scorched beyond repair.”
