Series Finale Revelations: Fear the Walking Dead Star Sets a Bold Condition for Comeback!

Fear The Walking Dead Characters

Last year, Fear the Walking Dead ended its run, likely bringing an end to the story of Colman Domingo’s Victor Strand. However, the actor hasn’t shut the door on the possibility of returning to the franchise.

In an interview with Screen Rant to promote this new Netflix series, The Madness, Domingo reflected on the series finale of Fear the Walking Dead. He shared that he just happened to reunite with two of his series co-stars, so he was able to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the finale’s airing last November, albeit unintentionally. Domingo also explained how he feels like Victor’s story has been thoroughly explored in the world of The Walking Dead, but with that said, the acclaimed actor would still be up for revisiting the role — as long as Victor is the main character, that is.

“First of all, that’s wild [that the one-year anniversary just passed], because literally, I was with Kim Dickens and Alicia Debnam-Carey last night, and we had no idea that it was one year ago that it aired,” he said. “That’s wild, it was an unconscious celebration. I think that I never say never, but I think that, after eight seasons in the arc of Victor Strand, I sort of squeezed everything out of him that I could. I think the only way Victor Strand could exist would have to be in his own universe. That’s what I think.”

He added, “He couldn’t be a part of the franchise. It would have to be solely about the world that he’s building, because Victor is someone who can keep transforming, and that’s what I really loved about him. But right now, he sort of transformed into his cousin, [The Madness‘] Muncie Daniels, and I’m cool with that.”

Domingo seems to be suggesting that he’s only interested in playing Victor Strand if he’s the lead character in his own spinoff as opposed to popping in for a special appearance. He could be thinking about something along the lines of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which put the spotlight primarily on Norman Reedus’ fan favorite character from the original series. As of now, no new spinoffs have been announced for any characters from Fear the Walking Dead, but with new seasons of both Daryl Dixon and The Walking Dead: Dead City — another spinoff following Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan — on the way, the franchise is still far from over, and there’s no telling what may be coming next.

Victor’s Story Ended in the Fear the Walking Dead Finale

In the series finale of Fear the Walking Dead, Victor bid farewell to his former campanions to start a new life with Frank (Isha Blaaker) and their son, Klaus (Julian Grey). Victor was left very much alive with a conclusion to his story that’s about as close to a happy ending as characters can get in the Walking Dead franchise, so it’s understandable if Domingo doesn’t want to change the narrative unless it’s for a really good reason. In the end, perhaps it’s best for the character to have his happy ending, given how much of a rarity that is for those who are left in the show’s post-apocalyptic world.

Fear the Walking Dead is streaming on Netflix.
