Recently, social media has been abuzz with images allegedly capturing an intimate moment between CEO Andy Byron and HR Director Kristin Cabot, shortly before they were exposed for an affair via the “kiss cam” at a Coldplay concert.
The images were reportedly taken at Gillette Stadium near Boston on the evening of July 16. The two were seen together in a highly visible spot near the aisle on the second tier, openly displaying affection amidst the crowd.
Many consider this “evidence” of an inappropriate relationship between the two senior leaders of Astronomer, a $1.2 billion data and AI technology company. The scandal erupted when Byron and Cabot were unexpectedly shown on the big screen during the “Kiss Cam” segment, a common feature at American events.
Both appeared flustered, ducking their heads and turning away from the camera upon realizing they were being filmed. On stage, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin even teased, “Look at those two. Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just too shy.”
The incident quickly became a hot topic on social media, drawing global media attention. The New York Post reported that both CEO Andy Byron and HR Director Kristin Cabot were temporarily suspended following the incident and have since left the company entirely.
On July 19, Astronomer issued an official statement on LinkedIn, stating: “We are committed to the values and culture that have guided Astronomer since its founding. Our leaders are expected to exemplify behavior and responsibility. The board has initiated an internal investigation into the matter and will provide further updates soon.”
The statement also refuted some misinformation circulating online: “Alyssa Stoddard was not present at the event, and no other company employees appeared in the video. Andy Byron has not made any statements, and any claims to the contrary are inaccurate.”
Meanwhile, Andy Byron’s wife, Megan Byron, reportedly deleted her personal Facebook account shortly after the video surfaced. Before the account disappeared, many users left comments about the incident. Notably, Megan removed her husband’s last name from her account, fueling speculation of marital strain.
