The newest season of Sweet Magnolias showed Jamie Lynn Spears‘ character going on an ATV excursion, which came eight years after her daughter’s offscreen near-fatal accident.

During season 4, which premiered on Netflix Thursday, February 6, showed Spears’ Noreen being surprised by best friend Issac (Chris Medlin) with tickets to go four-wheeling. The episode coincidently ended up being released one day after Spears, 33, marked the eighth anniversary of daughter Maddie’s near-fatal ATV crash.

“Today is extra special, bc it’s Maddie’s #MiracleAnniversary and we could never have made it through that time without God, our faith, the first responders, amazing medical teams, family, and the prayers & support from our community, as well as from you guys all around the world,” she wrote via Instagram. “I’m posting some pics of Maddie on the set of Sweet Magnolias over the years, bc it was my first job after the accident and after having Ivey, it was a real turning point in my life to get be a part of the Sweet Mags family & community.”

Spears continued: “We have nothing without the love and support of those around us, and I’m so grateful to be a part of a show that’s built on that simple fact. 1 more day until SEASON 4 is y’all’s🤍 I’ll never let this day pass without saying THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU🤍.”

The actress’ eldest daughter was 8 when her ATV flipped over into a pond in 2017. Maddie, now 16, was knocked unconscious and was submerged underwater for several minutes. Maddie was subsequently airlifted to the hospital to receive immediate medical attention.

Spears, who shares her eldest child with ex Casey Aldridge, later revealed how the incident affected her mental health. (She also shares daughter Ivey, 6, with husband Jamie Watson.)

“It really was, like, to the point where the panic attacks were all-consuming, where I’m counting, I’m touching the doorknob seven times,” she explained on Good Morning America in 2022. “It was consuming my life to the point where it physically was taking over me. At the time, I took medicine and finally got to a place where I felt stable. I think that when your worst fear happens, you get a lot less afraid of everything else. … It made me reevaluate everything and who I was as a person and where I needed to be better.”

Spears recalled being “haunted” by the experience. “The biggest thought that I think stays with me is that when I was trying to save her — when I thought that I’d lost her — I was so afraid that her last thought was, ‘Why didn’t Mama save me?’ I just hope she knows that I was doing everything I could,” she added.

Over the years, Spears has continued to honor the “miracle anniversary” of Maddie’s ATV accident.

“Maybe, it’s just a little reminder to remain faithful through the good times and the bad times,” Jamie Lynn wrote via Instagram in February 2022. “I mean, I had nothing when I thought I lost my baby girl, so my faith was literally all I had left to cling to. I thank God everyday [sic] for the extraordinary medical professionals, all the prayer warriors, and the countless angels in heaven, and on earth who made our miracle possible.”
