Determined to bring Filipino music and talent to the international stage, The Voice USA Season 26 champion Sofronio Vasquez emphasized his goal of expanding opportunities for other artists while exploring an acting career.

During a media conference at his contract signing event with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, Sofronio shared his plans to pave the way for Filipino artists on the global stage.

“Now, I think, ang kailangan ko gawin is how to sustain it, how to broaden the bridge. Ang challenge is paano ko ipapalawak yung tulay para hindi lang ako yung magaadjust, hindi lang sila. Kumbaga maraming mabibigyan ng pagkakataon,” Sofronio said.

Sofronio highlighted that his journey in The Voice USA Season 26 already introduced the Filipino style of music to the global audience.

“I really started naman my music abroad using Filipino music, the OPM factor, the Filipino side of my music,” Sofronio explained.

“I really wanted to continue with the music track and the music world map that I have started. Hopefully, magiging global din siya with the help of the people that really do music here and abroad,” he added.

Sofronio credited Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez as a major influence on his music career.

“Ms. Regine has been the most sought-after artist and singer in the Philippines. Siya yung pinaka-standard. She has [gone through] a lot of recognition na talagang deserve and deserve niya,” he praised.

Reminiscing about his time on The Voice, Sofronio shared how he channeled Regine’s influence.

“Noong nasa The Voice ako, I really use that factor na kung si Ms. Regine na transcend yung energy niya with music not just in Philippines, not just in Asia but internationally and globally, it might as well work for me,” he stated.

“I tried and it really worked. Chinannel ko yung pagka-Regine.Minanage ko na lang how to showcase it through Sofronio way.”

Sofronio also revealed his dream collaborations with international artists.

“The dream duet would be Michael Bublé with a record. A chance also to record with an international Filipino, Nicole Scherzinger, Ms. Lea Salonga, Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R., apl.de.ap, and Bruno Mars,” he said.

Meanwhile, Star Magic announced an upcoming life story project featuring Sofronio. He was even asked if he wanted to portray himself in the project.

“Actually, nagkaroon na kami ng meeting. Mayroon na briefing, mayroon na na storytelling and interview. Tinatanong ako kung excited ba ako to act on kaso na-cha-challenge ako. Sabi ko, mukhang gusto ko na lang kumanta,” he shared.

While he is not yet fully embracing acting, Sofronio expressed his desire for actor Elijah Canlas to portray him in the project.

“Elijah Canlas. He is really good at acting,” he shared.

Although hesitant about dramatic roles, Sofronio showed enthusiasm for action-packed projects, specifically FPJ’s Batang Quiapo and Incognito.

“Kung balak po nila na ipasok ako, kahit Batang Quiapo na lang, yung Mafia yung role ko,” he quipped. “Gusto ko talaga pumasok. Pati sa Incognito. Gusto ko kasi action. Kahit 1 week lang.”

Describing his dream role, Sofronio added, “Gusto ko talaga pumasok sa Batang Quiapo. Yung role ko kakanta ako pero akala nila kakanta lang ako pero sa likod mafia pala ako.”

He even gave a shoutout to Kapamilya star and director of the hit series, Coco Martin.

“Direk Coco, alam niyo naman sobra akong fan. Kapag po kailangan niyo ng pamalit kay Rigor, pwede po ako,” he expressed.
