Country music superstar Blake Shelton will have some help from his talented wife, Gwen Stefani, on his next project. Following a departure from his former label and a new record deal with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, the “Austin” singer confirmed that a new album is coming this year.
For Recreational Use Only will be released on May 9th and is Blake’s first studio album in four years.
The project’s lead single, “Texas,” dropped in November and broke a personal record for Blake, receiving more first-week radio adds than any other song of his career.
While backstage for the recent Opry 100th anniversary celebration, Blake revealed to Access Hollywood that a new duet with Gwen is on its way.
Intriguing Details Of The Upcoming Duet
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have two previous country hits, “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.” Both love songs resonated with fans and topped the U.S. country charts. This time around, the pair are combining their talents and releasing a breakup song titled “Hangin’ On.”
The Oklahoma native described it as a “badass country song” and added:
“It’s a song that pushes us vocally, and we just love the song. We’re to a point in our lives where we just wanna do songs that we love and then see what happens, I guess, later.”
However, Blake assured fans that the song is “no reflection” of his relationship with Gwen. The couple have been happily married since July 3rd, 2021.
