The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere its second season exclusively on AMC and AMC+ in Spring 2025. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will return to Manhattan in a battle for the island with Negan reverting to his old ways.

The first season of Dead City introduced viewers to post-apocalyptic Manhattan, inhabited by many unsavory criminal elements. The Croat (Željko Ivanek) and the Dama (Lisa Emery) are two leaders introduced in season one who will return, this time with Negan on their side. The teaser showcases Negan in his former glory as a leader, donning his leather jacket and sporting a new and improved Lucille.

Is season 1 of The Walking Dead: Dead City streaming on Netflix?

In Aug. 2024, AMC, in an ongoing partnership with Netflix, added several original series to the streamers catalog. Included in this deal were TWDU favorites, Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Fear TWD and Daryl Dixon were added in Aug. 2024 and The Ones Who Live in Jan. 2025.

After being included in the original announcement list, Dead City was excluded when Netflix announced releases for January. There has been no reason given for the change. So, unfortunately, Dead City isn’t currently available on Netflix, but perhaps it will be added in the near future. The first season of the series can be viewed via AMC+.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2

As stated above, the second season of Dead City is set to return in the spring of 2025. After Maggie negotiated her son’s release from The Croat, betraying Negan and trading him for her son, she vowed to finish things with Negan. Her obsession with revenge for Negan’s brutal killing of her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), negatively affected her relationship with her son.

Kim previously discussed his character in the upcoming season, teasing that Hershel’s role will be darker in season 2. While he was held captive, his pinky toe was chopped off, but somehow, the Dama was able to gain the boy’s trust. When he was released, he lashed out angrily at his mother regarding her obsession with revenge:

“It’s like you’re obsessed with him. With. With what he did. Getting him back. You’ve always… (…) And I’m right here. But you don’t see me. It’s like my whole life you’ve been looking over my shoulder, watching for him, waiting for him. (…) But you never see me. Whatever. It doesn’t matter.”

The teaser also reveals that Negan will take up the Dama on her proposal to side with her in taking over control of Manhattan. She heard tales of his time as leader of the Saviors and was impressed. She also used his affection for Hershel as leverage to get him to comply.

A new season will also see the addition of several new cast members, including Kim Coates, Dascha Polanco, Jake Weary, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni.
