Sometimes, it’s better not to know; Antony Starr’s audition tape is proof of that.
Season four of The Boys hasn’t exactly gone as planned. Despite being a beloved show, when this new season started, it was met with disgust from fans over a certain X-rated scene.
From there, the show started to get review bombed, leaving us sort of glad the series will end with season five.
What do you think to The Boys season four thus far?
Although not another nail in the coffin, so to speak, this discovery of Antony Starr’s Homelander audition has added another cursed undertone to the show.
Redditor Digginf shared the image, with the caption, “That is so weird looking. No blonde hair, no clean shave.”
Another fan quipped, “The Budgetlander.”
Further down in the comments, someone else remarked, “In this image he looks like that one photo of Ben Affleck smoking lol,” and now we can’t unsee that either.
No offence to Starr, but we kind of agree – it’s just so weird to see Homelander looking like this when we’ve become accustomed to the character looking a specific way.
While we wish we could erase the memory of this, it goes to show how impactful character design can be if done correctly.
“The blonde hair really does add to the overall look, he looks more casual without it,” said TheMegalopolis.
Of course, there are benefits to being unrecognisable as Amazon Prime’s Homelander – you don’t get easily spotted by fans. Though, that may change now this photograph is out there.
Another tidbit of information we can’t unlearn, is that a major character was recast after season one and none of us really noticed.
Even if The Boys should end on a bum note, at least we’ve got the memories of disturbing and/or hilarious things we learnt against our will to remind us of the good times.
