So many fans around the world were excited when it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged. The future for the British royals looked very bright at that time. The couple, along with Prince Willam and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), were dubbed the “Fab Four” and it was thought that they would work together to make a difference for their causes.
But less than two years after the Sussexes’ wedding, those thoughts were dashed when the duke and duchess announced that they were stepping down from their royal duties and wouldn’t be working with William, Kate, or any members of Harry’s family again.
Looking back now, some still wonder if signs were there early on. Well now, a video circulating online is highlighting a moment during Harry and Meghan’s first joint interview following their engagement that shows the former Suits star‘s expression change when the prince talked about his fiancée becoming part of a team when she joins his family.
Meghan’s face fell when Harry mentioned working as a team with his family

After Meghan and Harry shared their happy news with the world in November 2017, they had a photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace and then sat down with BBC journalist Mishal Husain for their post-engagement interview.
At one point, Husain asked Harry about marrying someone from a different background and the two of them representing something new for the royal family. The prince then explained that Meghan would be an added member of the family and another player on the larger team. When Harry said “part of the bigger team,” Meghan closed her eyes before looking down.
The exact moment is highlighted at the 54-second mark of a video uploaded to TikTok which shows several clips of the Sussexes. Many commenters took the duchess’s expression and face falling as her being disappointed with what Harry was saying. The caption reads: “No intention of being a team player.” It has been viewed thousands of times with hundreds of likes and comments.
The Sussexes later panned the interview and said they ‘weren’t allowed to tell their story’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed that engagement interview during their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. The prince’s wife called it an “orchestrated reality show” and claimed they “weren’t allowed to tell our story.”
However, Husain hit back at what Meghan alleged with some words borrowed directly from the late Queen Elizabeth, telling Variety: “We know recollections may vary on this particular subject but my recollection is definitely very much, asked to do an interview, and do said interview. We went and had a conversation with Harry and Meghan and two members of their team beforehand and we talked about what the interview would cover [and] what they felt comfortable sharing. After that, we went and set up our cameras. They went away for a bit and did their photocall and when they came back, we recorded a 20-minute interview.”
Tony Hall, who was the BBC director-general in 2017, also said it was “simply untrue” to claim the interview had been “rehearsed.”
