A newly published book has revealed the hidden corners of Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Beckham family, and revealed the American actress’ ambition to become the “new Princess Diana”.

Before officially becoming the daughter-in-law of the oldest royal family in Europe, Meghan Markle must have had a big dream. She thought she could become a new global icon, similar to her future mother-in-law – Princess Diana. But reality disappointed Meghan, her position in the British Royal Family was always behind the one who would become Queen of England – Princess Kate.

Journalist Tom Bower, author of the book “House of Beckham”, affirmed that Meghan Markle was not satisfied with her position in the British Royal Family. According to Bower, after a successful tour of Australia with Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan was confident that she could follow in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law and become a beloved public icon. However, the harsh reality hit when she realized that she was only a “subordinate” compared to the Princess of Wales – Kate Middleton. The author of the book wrote: “In the Royal hierarchy, she (Meghan) is below Catherine, Princess of Wales and future Queen.”

Not only disappointed with her position in the Royal Family, Meghan Markle is also said to be delusional about her own social position. Bower revealed that Meghan was “frustrated” when she learned that the Beckham family was much richer than her. “In Meghan’s world, rank depends on wealth and fame. As a seasoned person, Meghan was under the illusion that her position in the Royal Family put her above Victoria on the social ladder. She was upset when she discovered that the Beckhams had a much larger fortune than hers,” an excerpt from Bower’s book. The author also added that the Beckham family owns 5 houses, regularly travels by private jet, receives countless invitations to cruise on luxury yachts and of course owns a huge fortune. Meanwhile, Meghan, although about to become a duchess, still cannot compare.

However, things began to change in 2017, when The Sun published an article about their friendship.
