DONALD Trump could deport Prince Harry if he wins the US election – as an expert warns the Sussexes need to nail down a backup plan fast.

Among the shocking claims made in Harry’s memoir Spare, he referenced the times he did lines of cocaine at 17 before experimenting with psychedelic mushrooms and smoking marijuana.

The silly and brutally honest admission has since threatened his lifestyle in the States – focusing on whether or not he lied about past drug use on his visa application.

President candidate Trump was quick to spot the Duke’s huge gaffe and said at the time Harry “would be on his own” if he is elected into office next month.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun that Harry is on thin ice with Trump – particularly because he was such a fan of the late Queen

He said: “Knowing the character of Trump, he’s quite likely to want to do something which sort of bangs the fist on the table and establishes his authority.

“And also something which would get a lot of publicity.

“So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he suddenly said ‘Right, I’m sending Prince Harry out of this country’.

“And the reasons that he would use would be the drug issue, because Prince Harry has admitted to taking marijuana, cocaine, magic mushrooms – and may not have filled that in on his visa form.”

Harry and Meg participated in years of spats with Trump – spanning back to 2016.

And Trump was outspoken about his disgust in the pair for how they treated the late Queen and the Royal Family.

Hugo added this would also fuel Trump in wanting to get Harry out of America.

He said: “But of course his [real] reasoning behind it would be that Meghan has been quite rude about him over the years, and I think Prince Harry has too.

“When Trump came to England to see the Queen, he went away telling people that she thought he was her favourite president.

“So his line has very much been that he resents Prince Harry having caused the Queen so much grief in the last two years of her life.

“And Trump has stated publicly he won’t forgive Harry.

“Trump probably thinks ‘I got on well with the Queen’, which he definitely did, and ‘I would like to respect her memory by booting him out’.

“He doesn’t really abide by the rules. To get Harry out, he would stump the table and tell somebody to look into the way you do these things and just fix it. You know that’s the way he is.”

During a late-night talk show appearance eight years ago, former actress Meg called Trump “misogynistic” and “divisive,” suggesting she might move to Canada if he won the presidency.

In response, Trump labelled her as “nasty” in a 2019 interview, and their exchanges continued to escalate over the years.

Harry then criticised Trump during a prank call in 2020, while the Republican threatened to deny the couple US security costs after they moved to Los Angeles.

And that same year, the pair were accused of backing Joe Biden in his race.

BACKUP PLAN

Ahead of November’s election, Harry and Meghan have snapped up a property in Alentejo, Portugal.

Hugo said it’s a clear “backup plan” for the family if Trump is to make that call.

But it could cause issues between the wed pair as Meghan might not want to leave America with their kids Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – who is a US citizen.

He added: “I think it’s very wise to take all the possibilities into account [and look to live elsewhere].

“Looking at it from the outside, it makes perfect sense that they should have a backup plan.

“But Meghan is very US-based and [Harry being kicked out] would be a problem for them.

“Because she presumably wouldn’t be necessarily booted out.

“She would at least keep a base in America, because that’s where she operates more.”

It comes after the Heritage Foundation said earlier this year if the Duke did lie, he could be in breach of US federal law and should lose his immigration status.

However, lawyers for the US government argued Harry’s drug claims in the explosive book “is not proof” he actually took them.

The Sussexes have been contacted for comment.

Two reasons why Harry and Meghan might move to Portugal

BY Harry Goodwin

Hugo Vickers revealed why Meghan and Harry have snapped up a European bolthole.

The couple bought the home in Portugal after they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor, two years ago.

They have reportedly been staying with Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank at their holiday home in Melides on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.

It is understood Harry and Meghan also went house hunting during the three-night break.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun: “There are two reasons why Harry and Meghan might go to Portugal.

“One of them is the one that you mentioned that because he’s very close to Princess Eugenie, his cousin.

“They get on very well together. They seem to be the main members of the family who are still very much in touch with Prince Harry.

“The other reason is that there is always this fear that if Donald Trump gets re-elected as President, he will move Prince Harry from America.

“It’s exactly the sort of thing that he would do, because first of all, it would show his strength and his power. To show that he can do it.

“He has been irritated, I think, in the past by things that Meghan Markle has said about him, and probably Prince Harry as well.

“He would be completely in his rights to do that, and so they might be looking for an alternative residence.”
