Meghan Markle ‘Didn’t Like Playing Second Fiddle’ But Would Have Gotten Her Wish if She Was Still Working Royal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked people around the world when they stepped down from their roles within the royal family. One of the reasons their decision was so surprising is because many fans thought they were going to work alongside Prince William, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), and the rest of the royal family to champion causes they care about. But some believe “working alongside” others isn’t what Meghan wanted.

Well now a royal commentator is pointing out how if the duchess had decided to remain a working royal, she would have gotten her wish today.

Royal expert says Meghan ‘wouldn’t be playing second fiddle now’ if she stuck it out

Royal correspondent Sarah Hewson discussed the topic during an episode of The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show. She explained that with the king and Kate both undergoing treatment for cancer and taking a break from royal duties, Meghan and Harry would be the ones out and about and receiving the most fanfare now.

Hewson said: “We’re told Meghan didn’t like playing second fiddle. Well, [the Sussexes] wouldn’t have been playing second fiddle right now would they? They would have been front and center, and they could have played such a key role. And I think it’s really, really sad to see just how things have changed. [Harry] and Meghan both actually could have made such a difference.

“And particularly now, when you look at the royal family, and how difficult and how thin on the ground they have been, over the past few months with the absence of the king, the Princess of Wales, of course, we’ve had Princess Anne’s ill health lately as well.”

Hewson added: “When Harry spoke people listened. And when Harry wanted something done, it was done. And you saw that in Lesotho with Sentebale and that the pride that he got from something that he’s that started as a gap year project for him to then a lasting legacy of project making a difference to a generation of young people, children, many of whom have been orphaned by HIV and AIDS who contracted the disease themselves in the AIDS epidemic.”

Another commentator agrees Harry could have done so much if he hadn’t stepped down

Author and commentator Douglas Murray agrees and opined that the Sussexes leaving was really such a “sad turn” for Prince Harry, who could have done great things for many people.

“There was an awful lot he could have been a really meaningful figurehead for and, like his grandfather the late [Prince Philip] who set up the Duke of Edinburgh awards, that could have been the Prince Harry awards,” Murray told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.

“He could have done so much with his life and the position he had because of the benefits of the birth he had. Instead, he took this other way. He took the Montecito highway.”
