Why Ashley Stays Behind When A-Train Leaves in The Boys Season 4, Episode 7

A-Train-and-Ashley-in-The-Boys

Ashley Barrett has got herself into a lot of trouble in The Boys season 4, which is why it is very strange that she didn’t leave Vought with A-Train in The Boys season 4, episode 7. Ashely and A-Train’s betrayal of Vought has been a major storyline throughout season 4 so far, and episode 7 seemed to conclude A-Train’s involvement in this arc. However, Ashely made the odd choice to stick around in The Boys season 4, and here’s why.

The Boys season 4 is finally here, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed superhero series now releasing on the streaming service. The Boys season 4 picks up right where The Boys season 3 ended, with the titular team attempting to stop Victoria Neuman from becoming Vice President while Butcher attempts to kill Homelander in the background. With the help of A-Train, the team now knows that Homelander and Sister Sage are planning an insurrection, raising the stakes of The Boys even further.

Ashley Doesn’t Believe She Can Ever Truly Escape Homelander

He Can Fly To Wherever They Run

After A-Train realizes that Sage and Homelander know that he was the leak within Vought, he decides to run away. However, before leaving, he decides to offer a hand to Ashley, the Vought employee who knew about A-Train being the mole. Ashley kept A-Train’s betrayal a secret from The Seven due to A-Train having dirt on her, but when he offers to finally take her away from Vought, she declines.

As Ashley explains to A-Train, she doesn’t believe that they can ever fully escape Homelander, with her explaining that Homelander can fly however far they can run. Out of fear, Ashley decides to stay at Vought in The Boys season 4 and let A-Train run away alone, with her most likely thinking that staying on Homelander’s side would be the most likely way that she could get the head member of The Seven to show her mercy.

Ashley Doesn’t Believe She Deserves Redemption After Getting Cameron Coleman Killed

She Feels Guilty For Framing Him

Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) gagged and accused of being the leak in The Boys season 4 episode 5

The Deep (Chace Crawford) reports that Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) is the leak in The Boys season 4 episode 5

Ashley’s decision to stay at Vought isn’t purely logical, however, as she also clearly feels a lot of guilt. After discovering that A-Train is the leak, Ashley and A-Train frame Cameron Coleman, telling The Seven that he was the leak. To their surprise, Homelander commands his supe army to kill Cameron Coleman, with him being murdered as a result of Ashley and A-Train’s deceit.

Although Ashley did frame Cameron Coleman, she feels horrible about his death, not believing that she deserves redemption after getting him killed. Ashley and Cameron were in a sexual relationship for a while ahead of the events of The Boys season 4, and now that he is gone, it seems that Ashley hates herself so much that she won’t even let A-Train try to save her.
