Meghan Markle has once again opted to spend the holiday season away from family, leaving Prince Harry caught in a difficult situation that seems increasingly out of his control. With Prince Harry‘s fractured relationship with the Royal Family still unresolved, it comes as little surprise that King Charles III, who is currently dealing with a cancer diagnosis, has decided to keep things simple.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that HarryMeghan, and their children will not be part of the royal Christmas celebration at Sandringham.

King Charles, aiming to avoid any added tension, has chosen to spend a more intimate holiday with Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Meanwhile, Harry‘s maternal relatives, the Spencers, believe it’s time for him to reconnect with his British roots. They’re especially keen for Archie and Lilibet to experience their heritage firsthand.

Invited to spend Christmas in England

Hoping to bridge the growing divide, Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, extended an invitation for Harry and his family to join them for Christmas this year. However, reports suggest that Harry and Meghan declined the invitation, citing security concerns as the main reason for staying away.

“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” an insider told Express.

“It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it.

“There hasn’t been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one forthcoming. It would be highly unlikely if there were an invitation extended [to Sandringham], and I don’t think the Sussexes would take them up on it anyway.

“Harry and Meghan are not going to spend Christmas with the Spencers or the Royal Family this year. It’s just not an option with the children at the moment due to what’s been going on with their security.”

While Harry has made several solo trips back home, Meghan appears to have no intention of returning to England, a stance she’s maintained since leaving due to media pressure and royal obligations.
