Warriors Prepare to Add Former Thunder Star – Could This Be the Ultimate Superteam? If the rumors are true, this addition might push Golden State to the top once again, making them an unstoppable force in the NBA

The Golden State Warriors are thriving since acquiring forward Jimmy Butler in a trade with the Miami Heat, winning four of their last five games.

The next couple of seasons likely represents Stephen Curry’s last chance of adding a fifth championship to his legacy, so the Warriors could look to add another big-name superstar to help them get over the hump.

Fadeaway World predicts that former Oklahoma City Thunder and current Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant could be headed back to The Bay. Golden State was seemingly on the verge of getting a deal done with the Suns prior to the trade deadline, but Durant had no desire to rejoin the Warriors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

However, Durant later clarified that it was just a matter of bad timing in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

“People talk crazy about me all the time,” Durant said. “That’s not the reason why I didn’t come back. I just didn’t want to get traded midway through the season. It was nothing against my time with the Warriors, or I heard it was because I don’t like Draymond (Green).”

“At the end of the day, I just didn’t want to move. And I wanted to see it through with my team in Phoenix. And see what we can do through the rest of the season, so I’m glad I’m still there,” Durant concluded.

It would be tough for the Warriors to pull off any move for Durant without giving up Curry, Butler, or Green financially, but stranger things have happened.

If the Warriors can somehow get a deal done, then the 2026 NBA championship could be theirs to lose.
