Meghan Markle could be on the brink of going “nuclear” if Prince Harry makes amends with the royal family, a columnist has claimed.

Harry's Face Turned 'Red' When Meghan Markle Mocked Queen Elizabeth

Prince Harry returning to the royal fold would not land well with Meghan Markle and could prompt the former actress to go “nuclear”, an American columnist has claimed.

Prince Harry has been at odds with his family since his exit from life as a working royal in 2020, moving with Meghan and their children to settle down in Montecito, California.

Harry has spent the last couple of days on a solo visit in New York in support of various charities and causes, including The Diana Award event in honour of his late mother Princess Diana.

Prince Harry, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, is then set to fly on Monday to the United Kingdom for the WellChild Awards, of which he has been its patron for 16 years.

There has been speculation over whether Harry will meet up with his father King Charles and brother Prince William during his UK trip, particularly after the royal family extended an olive branch on his 40th birthday via a social media post.

However, a source recently claimed the Duke of Sussex does not expect his family to make the time to see him due to their tightly-packed schedules.

Writing for The Daily Mail on Friday, columnist Maureen Callahan said Meghan “may be about to go nuclear” if a reunion eventuates between Prince Harry and his family.

“Yes, those pricey travertine tiles are shifting tectonically in Montecito. Increasingly, it seems, Harry isn’t happy,” she wrote, citing the Prince’s solo New York visit.

“He has done the unthinkable this week, traveling to New York City and participating in events surrounding the UN General Assembly, dinners and galas and symposiums – all without Meghan.”

Meghan has reportedly been absent from the New York engagements due to feeling unwell and is not expected to join her husband at the WellChild Awards next week.

Callahan noted Meghan has made it “clear” she does not wish to return to the UK, questioning where that would leave the former actress should Harry be “welcomed home” by his family.

She claimed a reconciliation between Harry and the royal family could be seen as a “humiliation” for Meghan and the couple’s endeavour at a new life in California.

Callahan further suggested a reunion “would in some ways be Harry’s admittance that his real life and purpose” are in the UK with the royal family.

“This is dangerous territory indeed. We all know how Meghan handles criticism. She is not a woman who likes to lose,” the columnist wrote.

“After all, she’s often cast herself as Diana 2.0 – a rebel meant to remake, if not destroy, the royals.

“She knows where all the bodies are buried. And if scorned, she might be quick to exhume them.”

Prince Harry’s unofficial royal New York tour comes during the United Nations General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week.

In addition to speaking at the Concordia Annual Summit in honour of the The Diana Award, he featured on a panel during an event hosted by conservation organisation African Parks.

Prince Harry also marked the five-year milestone of non-for-profit travel initiative Travalyst, which is founded in 2019.
