The Walking Dead has featured many sites in Georgia including this popular beach destination.

Throughout its eleven-season run, The Walking Dead has featured many Georgia landmarks in its filming. One such location is the wildly popular Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island on the coast of Georgia. Each year, the location receives recognition on Trip Advisor’s top beaches list as it is a picturesque beach overflowing with driftwood formed by years of erosion.
This year Driftwood Beach has once again made the list at No. 7. The beach is a perfect site to capture some amazing photos and is a sought after location for weddings. According to the Golden Isles website “Driftwood Beach extends from the Clam Creek Picnic Area to the Villas By The Sea Resort and Conference Center.”

The best of the best lists compiled by Trip Advisor utilizes the community’s review system and the titles are given based on “a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions.” Less than 1% of the sites 8 million listings ever achieve this milestone.

The Walking Dead filming on Jekyll Island

The website The Walking Dead Locations is a fantastic resource to discover the locations where your favorite scenes were filmed. If you search JEKYLL, you will find many great spots on the island that TWD used for filming. The site also offers maps for self-guided tours.
Jekyll Island first appeared on The Walking Dead during episode 706, “Swear,” when Tara (Alanna Masterson) was seen washing ashore at Oceanside. Episode 715, “Something They Need,” was also filmed on the beach, this is when the Barnacle Walkers appeared on the beach.

In the season 10 opener, “Lines We Cross,” the series would once again film on the beach in two scenes. The survivors survived a harsh winter and to prepare for an unexpected return of the Whisperers begin training an army on the beaches at Oceanside. This episode also featured Carol’s (Melissa McBride) arrival at Oceanside via boat.

Later that season, in episode 1012, “What We Become” several scenes are filmed at Oceanside including Virgil (Kevin Carroll) bidding Michonne goodbye as she begins her search for Rick.
