AMC’s The Walking Dead swarmed onto its unsuspecting audience in 2010, and since its very first episode, the iconic zombie-infested TV series captured viewers with its harrowing narrative and horrific living dead. Even though the horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont wasn’t the first to showcase people trying to survive in a zombie-filled world, as George A. Romero is widely considered the “father of the modern zombie genre” due to groundbreaking films like Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, The Walking Dead excelled at giving viewers zombies that felt real and dangerous rather than mindless, decaying creatures who just wanted to eat brains all day.
Throughout its eleven seasons, The Walking Dead showed not only how zombies can adapt to their environments, albeit some not very successfully, but also how they deteriorate over time. Many of the reanimated corpses can be seen dragging themselves around as skin and bone due to weather conditions and scavengers pecking out most of their organs, which gives a fascinating insight into how most people viewed ‘walkers’ previously. However, even though the vast majority of Walking Dead fans would never want to truly be stuck in a real-life post-apocalypse with zombies, one enthusiast thought it would be interesting to see what that scenario would look like today.
Walking Dead Fan Highlights What Zombies Would Look Like in 2025
Over on The Walking Dead’s Reddit page, a fan of the AMC series has hilariously recreated what they think ‘walkers’ would look like if the world were in a zombie apocalypse today. Taking images from The Walking Dead show, user ChrisRocksLeftBigToe remakes each picture with different clothes, hairstyles, and cosmetics seen through our modern-day culture. Although Chris’ recreation is meant to be more tongue-in-cheek and silly, they probably have captured quite a few truthful aspects of what Walking Dead zombies could look like in today’s age. In one picture, a zombie can be seen with lip filler, another wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ baseball cap, while a gangster zombie can be seen wearing a silver gun necklace and a trendy tracksuit. The most iconic and laughable image, though, has to be the zombie walking around with a Stanley cup.
It seemed as though The Walking Dead fans appreciated the humorous recreation too, as the post has currently almost 3k likes. In the comment section, one person said that the poster forgot one major detail when creating 2025 zombies, and that’s not including the fluffy perm haircut many people have now. Another commentor stated, “I would be livid if a walker in Uggs and Lululemon got my ass,” while another expressed that “Stanley cups would be so plentiful we’d have to start using them as weapons.”
Staying within the zombie territory, recently, The Walking Dead‘s creator finally answered the long-debated question about whether zombies could actually swim or not. As for the show’s spin-offs, fans can get excited about another dose of zombie-filled chaos in Manhattan when season two of The Walking Dead: Dead City airs this year, with an exact premiere date hopefully being revealed soon.
