Prince Harry’s furious reply to King Charles after Meghan banned from seeing Queen

Prince Harry has claimed in his new memoir that his father King Charles told him not to bring Meghan Markle to Balmoral on the day his grandmother, the late Queen died.

Prince Harry has revealed in his memoir “Spare” that he felt a surge of indignation when King Charles purportedly advised him against bringing Meghan Markle to Balmoral on the day Queen Elizabeth II died. The Duke recalls the events of 8 September 2022, reflecting on the moment his father seemed to exclude his wife from attending, despite their simultaneous presence in the UK.

At 40, Harry described being essentially unwelcome with Meghan at his side, noting: “He said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn’t want… her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn’t having it.”

Upset by his father’s remarks, Harry says that he defended his wife, responding: “Don’t ever speak about my wife that way.”

He goes on to portray how his father reacted clumsily, with an apology, insisting that he wanted to avoid a crowded event and used the argument that since Kate wouldn’t be there, Meghan should not attend either. The Duke recounted his father’s words: “He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn’t want a lot of people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn’t coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn’t.”

Moreover, Harry described facing obstacles in travelling to Balmoral that day, reports the Mirror. Hindered by sparse communication with other royals, he endeavoured to reach Scotland independently, ultimately arriving too late to bid farewell to his grandmother.

He described the moment saying: “When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up. It was a message from Meg: ‘Call me when you get this.’ I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was King.”

Meghan, who originally hadn’t been included in the invite to Balmoral upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II, was eventually requested to join other Royal family members for the funeral procession.

This marked Meghan’s most recent visit to the UK, while Harry has since returned several times. In his recent visits, including one this February to give support to Charles after his cancer diagnosis and his appearance at the WellChild Awards 2024 this September, Harry has shown his solidarity with his family.
