Rob Liefeld’s recent tweet hints at a possible high profile feud between him and another studio giant.
With all the hype around it, Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to bring in a massive box office collection this summer. The premise and the promised cameos of the upcoming Marvel feature have captured the attention of many fans. Reportedly, Shawn Levy is also eyed to lead an upcoming Avengers film.
Interestingly, the creator of Deadpool, Rob Liefeld, has a cryptic warning for the Deadpool 3 director against directing a new Avengers film. Over the past few days, the comic book artist shared a cryptic series of posts on his X account to hint at a feud between him and a big studio. Many fans suspected that this studio might be none other than Disney.
Is something wrong between the Deadpool creator and Disney?
Several comic book writers and artists have come into conflict against Marvel and Disney over the past few years. Captain America writer Ed Brubaker also had beef regarding royalties with the Kevin Feige studio when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came out in 2021.
According to the latest report by Deadline, Marvel is considering Shawn Levy as a choice to helm the upcoming Avengers film after his work in the Deadpool threequel. But the fans were confused and concerned when Rob Liefeld claimed that Deadpool & Wolverine was a masterpiece and asked Levy to “resist” the temptation.
Liefeld ended the series of tweets by claiming that he did not expect Warner Bros. to treat him better than Disney- “I didn’t have Warner Bros. treating me better than Disney on my bingo card. But there it is.” Warner Bros. is working on a live-action adaptation of Liefeld’s Avengelyne with Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde.
Did Marvel or Disney reach out to Rob Liefeld over the alleged feud?
While it is too soon to assume that Shawn Levy may head a potential Avengers feature. However, it may be a good option if Deadpool & Wolverine brings back the glorious MCU days. Naturally, the fans were confused when Rob Liefeld warned the Stranger Things fame against it.
As a fan asked Rob Liefeld to elaborate on his tweet, the comic book veteran passed it as humor. He added that Deadpool & Wolverine is a brilliant piece of art and it is up to Levy if he wants to head forward with Avengers. The artist is also confident that Shawn Levy will be a great choice if he lands the opportunity.
It is tough to assume if it is really his humor or if he had some talks with the higher-ups to solve his alleged feud. Nonetheless, it is hoped that everything will be sorted between the two parties by the release of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be released on July 26, 2024.
