“They’re two of the best people in the world,” Zac Efron said of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. “How can you not be stoked?”

The power of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has even reached Zac Efron.

Efron, 36, recently fielded a question from E! News about perceived similarities between 34-year-old Swift’s relationship with Super Bowl champion and NFL star Kelce, also 34, and the plot of Efron’s famous Disney movie High School Musical.

Efron rose to fame on the back of the 2006 Disney Channel musical, in which he played Troy Bolton, a high school basketball star who falls in love with fellow student Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens). Gabriella is seen in the movies cheering on Troy during the team’s basketball games, similar to Swift’s presence at the recent Super Bowl in Las Vegas as Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs won the NFL championship.

“Wow, I didn’t think about that,” Efron, who was promoting his upcoming movie Ricky Stanicky, said. “That’s really cool. Shout out to all the High School Musical fans.”

The three High School Musical films follow a blending of worlds at the fictional East High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as Efron and Hudgens’ characters contend with their friends from the basketball and theater world’s disapproval of their choice to bridge the gap between the court and the stage.

“I love the whole Travis, Taylor thing. Man, I’m so happy for them,” Efron added to the outlet. “They’re two of the best people in the world. How can you not be stoked?”

Efron stars alongside John Cena in Ricky Stanicky, which is directed by Peter Farrelly, who worked with Efron on the 2022 film The Greatest Beer Run Ever.

Ricky Stanicky premieres on Prime Video March 7.
