‘XO, Kitty’ Fans Are Furious About One Major Issue in Season 2

The first reviews for XO Kitty season two are rolling in and fans have taken to social media to issue one common complaint with the new batch of episodes

XO Kitty fans issued just one major complaint as season two of the romance series dropped on Netflix this week.

On Thursday, Jan. 16 fans were thrilled as a brand new batch of episodes of XO Kitty, a spin-off from the hit show To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, released on Netflix. In the second season, viewers continue to follow along for Kitty’s (Anna Cathcart) journey as she attends the Korean International School of Seoul after previously getting kicked out.

And as she makes her grand return to her old stomping grounds, Kitty finds herself in the center of a new dramatic love triangle that now includes her new roommate. As she grapples with these twists and turns, she also unearths new hidden secrets about her family’s heritage which leads her to emotional reunions with long-lost relatives.

As fans binge watch the new gripping rom-com, they have issued just one complaint with the series – that there isn’t nearly enough. As season two released, fans were disappointed when they discovered there were only eight episodes rather than the standard 10 that were featured in the first season.

After finishing season two, XO Kitty fans took to a newly-posted Reddit thread to air out their grievances with the switch-up in episodes. One user wrote: “Not us already finishing it by now lol. It needed a couple more episodes, is my only complaint.” Another fan replied: “I agree! not sure why they cut it down from 10 to 8 episodes. it definitely would’ve helped with the pacing to not feel as rushed.”

And a third viewer agreed: “Honestly I think most of the problems people might have with the plot/writing this season boils down to the facts we went from TEN to EIGHT EPISODES? I don’t understand why Netflix would decrease the amount of episodes considering this is one of their most popular teen shows.”

According to reports by ShowSnob, the choice to cut the amount of episodes was not decided by the XO Kitty creators themselves, but rather a result of Netflix’s orders. While Netflix hasn’t disclosed the specific reason why this choice was made, fans have theorized it was due to budgetary concerns and interest in cutting costs.

This decision to shorten the amount of episodes in season two has occurred with a number of popular shows in the past year across all streaming services. Some examples of this include The Diplomat, The Recruit, Tell me Lies, House of the Dragon, Bad Sisters, among many others.
